Hey, hello everybody, i have recived this morning the comfort kit for my Pimax 5k+.
Positive points :
-We are completly in the dark in the nose area(On the sides there’s alway a small entrance of light,i his entry is dedicated to glasses).
-The comfort kit is very comfortable.
-The lense are more distant, and there’s a lot less pinching in the nose.
It’s easier to find your focus point and the PIMAX is more stable on your head (I have the deluxe audio strap).
Negative points :
-We’re losing many in fov. I can see the edges of the lenses more easily, especially at the forehead.
-I find that the scale of perception inside the helmet has changed, everything seems smaller, more distant, because the lense are further away from the eyes.
-You can see a little more distortion on the edges of the lenses, because the lens is further away.
Conclusion :
For the moment I’m divided, there’s good and bad for me. I keep trying to adjust the Pimax to see if I can improve the negative points.
Yes, I was going to say the same. When I made my mod of the foam, before I had 66.9 of ipd, and with the mod I have to use 69 of ipd (which is also the correct one) so that the smaller objects do not come out.
Did you feel more “presence” or 3D feel with this distance? I feel that when I use the Pimax with my mod (distant lenses) and having the “refraction” in the sides, and using bigger IPD, I feel more sense of presence and 3D. And eye relief of course.
I personally love my 5K+ with the comfort kit and the Vive DAS mod. It has made the Pimax a comfortable headset now. I’m now able to play games for a few hours and not have a headache afterwards.
I’m glad you just confirmed the result I’m looking forward to. I bought a confort kit last Monday from aliexpress and I will receive it next week
I own a 5K+ with a vive DAS and I can’t play games too long because of the poor confort from the headset. Hopefully the result will be as satisfying as you experienced since you installed the confort kit.
It definitely made a massive improvement and is worth every bit of the cost. My girlfriend and all my friends who’ve tried it have said the same. Combined with the Vive DAS, it actually feels like the headset was supposed to come that way. It blocks out light from the nose area very well which adds to the immersion, and the larger forehead padding and soft material really reduces pressure of the headset on your face. Also, people who wear glasses should definitely get it. It works great with them. You’ll like it
Yes I love the comfort kit and Vive DAS on my 8k+, I’m a sim racer and my world is completely focussed on the track. I used to have a slight discomfort after racing with the 5k+/DAS and this is so much better
From my experience, distortion is different for each person. My friend can use thick facepad while I can’t use because I can see distortion at the center like fisheye.
