Can I use HTC vive controles with pimax Base Stations

Hello, i have this doubt, so far i have not found answer for that, can someone answer me?

@deletedpimaxrep1 @Matthew.Xu

No, the VIVE controllers are based on v1.0 of the tracking system. Therefore they can’t be tracked with v2.0 base stations.

You can read up here for more details on why this is true.

Why do they work now with the Vive controllers ?

There are no vive 2.0 controllers? I thought i heard something about 1.0 compatibility?

U wot m8? All current VIVE controllers and headsets are based on v1.0 of the tracking system, due to the way the new v2.0 system works (the system Pimax is using), this means that they cannot be tracked with new lighthouses (VIVE 2.0 lighthouses, or Pimax lighthouses, both of which are yet to be released).

Fortunately, v2.0 accessories (Pimax 8K and controllers) can be tracked using old VIVE base stations. Sorry if this is hard to understand, but its as straightforward as I can word it.

There will be VIVE 2.0 controllers when the new VIVE is released… currently Pimax is the only system to implement the v2.0 tracking system. For now all you need to know is that if you upgrade your base stations, you will need the Pimax controllers. If you don’t, you can keep using your VIVE controllers with the Pimax.

Then you can use them wired? Thats good enough for me

Actually idk what I was thinking, no your Vive controllers can never be tracked by v2 base stations.

Hi Brian. From what I read you look to be right.

But will need the team on this one as eith current demos they are using vive wands eith PiMax base stations. So hard to say but perhaps they have modifified the reference design to have theres implentation of lighthouse v2 compatiable with the wands.

@deletedpimaxrep1 @Matthew.Xu @bacon. Can you give us details on yout lighthouse implentation? Is it based on v2 lighthouse design that has been used for demos?

If so how i have you made support for the vive wands? Or is the pimax lighthouse currently being used for demos based on v1 lighthouse?

yes, it is based on V2 lighthouse design.from my opinion you can’t use our lighthouse with Vive controller, but can use our controllers with Vive V1.0 lighthouse.

@Bacon atm you are using Vive wands to demo the v2 prototype with your lighthouses.

The only way a v2.0 base station can track a device is if the device is made to be tracked by v2.0 base stations. Therefore, if the VIVE controllers were being tracked using Pimax base stations then they were for demonstration purposes only and were most likely based off the SteamVR v1.0 tracking system. There is no possible way for v2 base stations to track v1 accessories, it just can’t work.

I agree unless they have hybrid the 2. But more likely the lighthouses they are using for the demo are built using v1 design as v2 are cheaper to build. But better to get confirmation.

I can say from seeing them it looks like a grid of leds inna square.

You are right the lighthouse we are using in Demo is built base on V1.

Thanks for the clarification.

I would reccommend updating the kickstarter page.

Q1: Is Vive v1 controllers compatiable with PiMax Lighthouses?
A1: No PiMax Lighthouse is Valve v2.
Q2: How are you demoing the the 8k with Vive v1 controller as seen with PiMax Lighthouses?
A2: The PiMax Lighthouse is built to v1 specs for demonstration purposes. Shipped lighthouses will be built to v2 specifications. The PiMax Headsets are backwards compatiable though with Vive v1 lighthouses.
Q3: Are PiMax Lighthouses compatible with Vive v1 Lighthouses?
A3: No PiMax Lighthouses are built to Lighthouse v2 specs & are only compatiable with v2 lighthouses & v2 accesories.

Otherwise some may think based on what they have seen that their controllers are compatible with your lighthouses.
