I just got this cable https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088ZB3146/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1. But i can only get it to detect the 8k plus with new 4.5m 2 usb 1 display port cable. if i go connect it to my pc first then the extension cable. I think there maybe a software bug making it not work. On paper it should just work the maximum full length of this active cable is 7.5m. and the total length is 3m+4.5m= 7.5m.
This is guaranteed not to be a software bug. It’s always a thing with active cable extensions. The old pimax cable (which only had 1 USB connector and where the power supply unit was connected) was active, there were also signal amplifiers in it. With some graphics cards there were problems like flashing pixels in the display, which even pimax never got under control. And we’re talking about a third-party manufacturer here.
And then you surely used USB extensions as well. They also come into consideration.
