Blurry spots in the center of lens

It’s taken a few days to realize it’s not my pc. If I move my headset to the left or right so do the blurry spots. Is this normal. If I peak over the blurry spots the picture looks really good. I know the edges are supposed to be blurry but the center? How can I fix this? I have tried using a felt cloth but it doesn’t work. I feel like it’s on the other side of the lens. I don’t think it is moisture either since it’s always this way.

@Pimax-Support @Doman.Chen

Can you take a pic of the issue? Ia it borh eyes or just 1?

It’s both. Helps to wipe down the lens with a felt cloth but in both eyes there is a certain spot that will not go away. Can’t really take a picture of this, you just have to be there. Other people have commented on this issue I am aware. I wonder if Amazon will allow me to trade for a non blurred headset?

If not past 30 days of possession, send the unit back to Amazon.

Contact through live chat and get the RMA going.

Also, does the unit have white text or orange text on the front casing?

White. Does this make any difference?

Ironically, those were supposed to be the newer headsets, can’t understand why this issue was not resolved.

@Jasone Sorry for inconvenience. Did you mean about blurry center but sharp edges of the lens? Or dust on the opposite side of the lens?

Have you adjusted IPD in Device page of Piplay? What’s you eyesight situation, wearing glasses or not? Thank you.

I’m not sure where it’s coming from. Whenever I look at text for example, if I move the headset from left to right and look through one eye the text is clean, then blurry in the center, then clean again. The outer perimeter of the lens is blurry but I think that is by design. I have adjusted the ipd the best I can. The images look good, but it is a strain on my eyes. If I can get a better headset, I would like to.

I ordered a new pimax 4k and will be returning this one back to Amazon. Hopefully the new product will not have the blurry spots in the center. Amazon was gracious in allowing me to do this. Hope it works.

Well, just got the new headset in the results are the same. I’ve adjusted the ipd as much as possible and the blurry spot in the center remains. I think the headset is made this way. Kinda defeats the purpose of 4k. Once again, it’s not my vision. Whenever reading text for example, if I move the headset to the right or left just a little it clears up. Dead center it gets blurry. Now I have 2 blurry 4k headsets. Weak.

I’m not trying to complain. I just wonder if other headsets do this. I wonder if all headsets from other companies have blurry spots in the center.

Another thing. This new headset is missing the nose pad and it scratches my nose. I liked my older headset better because of the padding. I wonder why they removed the nose pad?

I have been reading on other experiences with blurry lenses and after trying a little experiment now know what is happening. I think it’s the curvature of the lens causing this. I don’t care how good ones vision is, if you try to read a book that is 1 inch away from your face…it’s going to look blurry. Even if the images in a game are created to look like they are in the distance, you are still looking at that image from less than an inch away on the screen. I think off center the curvature corrects the blurriness but in the dead center you have to strain really hard to see clearly. I have good vision. 20 20 last check but the only way I can see clearly in the center is by straining my eyes. Another way is to back the lens away from the eyes. Perhaps with future headsets you could provide an option to adjust the distance of the lens from the eyes. Also, why does the lens have to be curved? If it were flat the screen would look clear evenly provided one could adjust the screen distance…it would be like looking out the window. I’m no expert nor have an engineering degree but I could work for your company with a million per year salary and fix this thing. 4k works, but it’s blurry due to the inability to make adjustments in the screen distance.

They used a different focus distance than the rift/vive. I don’t see blurry myself. @luke performed a focus mod by inserting 2mm washers as spacers in the lense holders but is not for the faint of heart. His mod does however give you acs to the lens holder screws once fully assembled again.
