Big gap at bottom around nose, light bleed 5k+

What’s the deal with the gap at the bottom around the nose? No matter how tight I smash it to my face there’s a big gap that lets light in. Were the face pads designed that poorly? If I put the vive on I’ve got complete darkness.

Are there 3rd party face pad replacements that people have used to fix the issue?

I find the light leak at the bottom to be problematic myself and I know of no 3rd party solution yet. However, I reached out to “VR Covers” and they informed me that they are working on Pimax VR Cushion replacements. Hopefully they will do a better job.

Whilst I too get this huge distracting opening at the bottom, I am sure there are a good few users with larger noses, who appreciate it very much. :7

do you guys have the thick or thin facepad? one pad is very thin on the nose part, the other much thicker.

I have less of a gap with the pad on top.

wat. Mine only came with one pad. Just tore apart the box to double check too.

all come with one pad but not everyone gets the same facepad. I have two 5k+ (one rma) and they have different facepads.

Really, you guys find that small gap over the bridge of the nose a light bleed problem?

I find it useful for keyboard peeking and locating objects I might want to use whilst wearing the headset. Horses for courses as they say.

Maybe you can if it is so distracting, wear a bandaid on your nose or - like others here have done, mod the foam with some additional foam and light seal to your hearts content.

Pimax can’t read your face shape and can’t send out many foam pads to suit every customer. Although, a combination or area specific foam strips that come in thick and thin would be nice. They could supply foam in 4 pieces covering top, sides and bottom and then we can slightly customise the padding to be a bit better suited to our faces. :+1:

Just for the record, could you measure the thickness of the thicker foam? I believe I got the thinner one (it is 13 mm thick at its top part). Since I am wearing glasses I had to apply some additional layer of velcro/double tape nastery to it, and now when the headset is further from my face I have a huge space between the tip of my nose and the foam. It makes wearing not very comfortable.

Maybe, making the nose part thinner works, when you have a tight fit (close to the eyes), but once you need to relieve it a bit, the space around the nose makes it not only leaking the light into the headset but also quite unstable on the face for me.

13mm could be the thick pad, the thin one is more like 11mm.
its hard to tell because these pads get compressed over time.

Then I must have something in between yours two, because mine does not have the bulging nose part. On mine the nose part is the thinnest part of the foam.

for me thats the thinner pad causing more light bleed at the nose.but maybe new it was thicker at the top!

I think the thick face pad is ~15 mm.

None of my pads are 15mm but heard there are 3 variants in total.
