have the DAS on my vive and using the tpcast powerbank (20.000mAh) as counterweight, makes is a little heavy but i got used to it, only remaining problem is the drag when moving the head fast (in ED it might not happen so often but there are games where you move your head more)
on my pimax i’m using a welding mask mod (initially done for my vive) and it has a strap on the forehead and one over the head in addition to the tightening wheel an the back of the head, the strap on the forehead takes off a lot of the weight much like the halo design of the psvr
I’m using the DAS with VRCover 20mm back padding inside and a 22mm cheap PU leather foam for the Vive with a single strip of velcro in the top only.
Tried the Apache strap (shortly) but it didn’t increase comfort in my case.
I did the 3d printing thing and got my vive deluxe on the pimax which was massively better. Still using the pimax face pad though as I find it far less reactive to my skin the old vive one or the vr cover ones.
The main issue is still a slight bit of warping at the sides but from tests it seems pulling the bottom of the headset away from my face around 1cm, really helps align the side warping so will try some double sided velcro on it soon.
I just did the velcro trick and it’s super effective! 2 layer on the top and the sides, 3 at the bottom. And a piece of foam on the nose.
Yeah, double-sided Velcro is a good option for fine-tuning the fit of the HMD. I didn’t need much, just a single layer at the top.
I intentionally left ~1-2 cm gaps between the Velcro strips, which allows for some airflow, to reduce heat and moisture buildup inside the headset. There is some light leakage, but I just dim the room lighting and it’s fine. This mod improves my comfort, especially on hot days.
