Dear simracers,
I have tested several pitool version but I prefer use the version 1.0.1.144 due to the fact there is no stutering. Based on your experience could you please share with me and the community your experience and best version
I play essentially to assetto corsa and dirt 2.0.
Thanks
I run Assetto Corsa with “Large” FOV, PitoolSS 1.25, Steam VR 100% at 90 Hz ultra smooth on Pitool 258 and FW 263.
I´m totaly in love with 258, all my favorite games and most of them are very demanding (Project Cars 2/ DCS / Elite Dangerous) just to name a few, are running very smooth and stable.
But i must tell you, it´s not just to leave Performance on Pitool totaly.
I´ve optimized:
- Bios
- Windows
- all Driver-Settings
- Ingame-settings
- Pitool-settings per game.
Unfortunatly some people are still reporting in bad performance or let´s say less performance then previous versions.
But hey, thats how Pc´s are, everyone has different system specs and system settings, so it´s kind of hard to call “THE BEST Pitool”.
On my System out of the last 10 Pitools, 258 is the best “Overall” version.
Cheers
Thanks for your answer, I will try this couple pitool/ firmware
What you run can highly depend on what you run it on, what your expectations are in any given game and how optimized (everything) is, etc etc etc.
Without a common frame of reference there is only you trying and testing to achieve what you will accept.
I play, for example, play Dirt Rally 2 and can by no means crank everything, What settle on is more about keeping my fps at 72 fps (I run 72 Hz) without and frame duplication, be it Pimax Smart Smooth or SVR’s Smooth and legacy reprojection.
For my system and wheel (Logitec Black Momo) , this keeps the sim’s force feeback routines at optimum and thus the driving experience is much more satisfying and akin to my RL experience.
As always ymmv.
You said “I have tested several pitool version but I prefer use the version 1.0.1.144 due to the fact there is no stuttering”.
I say “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
I’m playing Dirt Rally 2.
For me the best is 258 with smart smoothing ON and gpu catalyst set to 10.
Remember to use 110hz/120hz mode when SS is ON to avoid ghosting and have clear image
I did some tests and for simracing it’s better to use smart smoothing with higher refresh (>90hz)
In my opinion native 72hz is not for simracing.
If that’s your tolerance threshold fine but their are no absolutes so “better in your opinion” would be a more pragmatic statement.
Everyone is different. If we all like the same thing there would only be one thing.
Dogbite sorry of course it’s in my opinion
Fixed
It’s all cool. I do appreciate many prefer higher fresh rates and are bothered if too low. I am bothered by artifacts caused by frame duplication and prefer no smoothing tricks whatsoever, where for others not so much.
Having gamed since 72Hz was the “flicker free” gold standard of early monitors, I suspect my tolerance with it might be built in now, but i hear ya.
I also couldn’t stand frame duplication, that’s why to avoid it you need minimum 110hz with smart smoothing.
For me it’s better to keep minimum 55fps and set graphic details to High but as we discussed earlier it’s all about personal preference
For me it isn’t the refresh rate, it’s the artifacts. Even at 120 (can maintain 60) in DR2 they bother the heck out of me.
Where can i find this version 1.0.1.144
Thanks !
