Berlin=success... Next location? Pimax update? Shipping date?

Berlin was clearly a good success for Pimax. The videos of peoples very positive comments clearly made many backers that couldn’t attend feel much happier after a long time of no solid info from Pimax. it seems it would have been very easy for Pimax to have ended many backers legitimate concerns a long time before Berlin.

However the Berlin videos were all made by MRTV, Sweviver and others, Still nothing coming from Pimax giving us any official news or even statements.

The backer meetup locations vote implied the Berlin backer meeting was just the first, so will there be another backer meetup? If so when/where?
Where is the latest news of progress and status of (final?) hardware improvements?
Have the actual backers units even started production yet? If not, when?
What is the progress towards a firm date for starting to ship the backer units?
Has the previously announced production ramp-up plan changed? What is the production timeline?

Come on Pimax, stop relying on others to do your communications job, and meet your own CEO’s promise that Pimax would maintain good communication with the backers. Simply give us some solid statements on the obvious questions everyone has, especially now after Berlin, including all those above. Still having M1 testers under an NDA period is no excuse to remain silent with all of us.

Xunxhu messaged me today saying there are going to be more backer meet ups. …but no mention of when or where.

The CEO gave an interview to MRTV where some of these questions were answered. Shipping is to start during September and every backer should have their headset by New Years with a “90%” chance.

i can not really believe that they start shipping this month^^ on 16th the nda is lifted. then they have to send a survey who wants the 5k plus instead of 8k. They should also ask again, who wants the headset asap or wait for the full package.

i still hope for a kind of 8k plus but that will not happen this year. probably next year they will bring a improved version i guess.

I don’t understand the point of more backers meet if they plan on sending out the units by the end of this month. That’s just 3 weeks or so.

That’s great but why is this just a private message to one person, not an official statement?

I understand your point but don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. They obviously can’t take any hardware improvement suggestions this close to or even after production starts, but any feedback around software improvements could still result in changes that could get released in future updates.

At least it gives you a chance to personally try both the 5K+ and 8K first, know the truth of what you’re gonna get, and make an actually informed change to your order if you want, not just one based on someone else’s guesses/comments that will have a different perception and priorities. This is what is most important to me so I hope the next meetup is close enough that I can go.

Not everyone is going to get their headset at the end of September. The meet ups will be nice for people that want to try the headset before they get it by the end of the year.

I think it’s gonna be a NDA lift, then they send out the survey a week from then, followed by shipping on the 30th of September

*Otherwise, I don’t know how else they’d get the first series of shipments out (in time). Time will tell and I’m sure we’re close. The 16th is gonna be an exciting day regardless.

You know, that actually makes a lot of sense but … it doesn’t seem very fair in a way. By that I mean… I’m sure Pimax sold units from just about all 50 states in America… but only people from 2 or 3 states will have that opportunity because I doubt Pimax will do some grand American tour. But never the less… I get your point.

If you’re a band and you’ve just a made a record, you go on tour to promote it.:grinning:

Also, They can continue to gather feedback for software tweaking and other things (no promises, but potential the controllers and other backer rewards) during this time before the 8k goes up for retail sales.

Just because the headsets themselves are going to start shipping out to BACKERS ONLY this month DOES NOT MEAN THIS PROCESS IS OVER for pimax (and not all pledges will be filled this year. They are estimating atleast 90% of headsets will ship with other rewards coming in 2019). This entire process of getting this headset to market and selling it is far from over. That’s what kickstarter is about, a kickstart to get the project off the ground. The goal is having a polished product to sell globaly and they have a long ways to go still before the complete 8k experience is to that level.

Tldr: They still have months before they will ship retail units and that is precious time to work on the software and peripherals. This development process is far from over even if they are shipping only headsets to backers.

Indeed start shipments not receive by.

I just asked her to clarify if there would be more meets and she said yes

I think the meetups will carry on after the 16th as well. …giving backers the chance to try it while mass production continues in the background

Hopefully the next meet up occurs before pimax ask you if you want to swap headsets. If it does then all is good as more reviews will help us backers decide one way or the other…if on the other hand the meetup is after the dead line then it still gives people a chance to try out what hmd they backed…albeit too late to change hmds

Bands go on tour to sell tickets and goods because the record company is one the one making the money off of sales of CD’s etc… never the less, if this was a feel good spread the love of Pimax as you say… it would be open to the public and not backers who already BOUGHT the product! The other part of your comment about “this is what kickstarter is about”… I have no clue where you were going with that or how it was relevant so… whatever…

The idea is future meetups would likely serve to promote the headset and gain feed back from people who have a vested interest in the product (backers) to improve it before a retail release. Pimax isn’t a major sized corporation like HTC or facebook so having access to free testing/testers and feedback can be valuable.
