Assetto Corsa Pimax 8K

Very cool! Thanks! There’s one of particular interest to me: Road Atlanta. That’s our local race track, which I have actually ridden on (as a passenger). A friend of mine used to be a driving instructor and took me for a ride in his Audi R8.

I was able to play in VR tonight. Thanks for all the tips! AC looks very nice in VR.

Run SteamVR first and menus for Assetto Corsa now load on SteamVR Big Screen. Nice bonus allowing not having to take off headset when in the menu between races.

I tried enabling Big Scree with a previous driver (I don’t remember which version) and I had a single-digit framerate. It was completely unusable.

Perhaps something has changed, so I’ll retest it.

launch SteamVR, then launch Assetto Corsa from Steam if you have it there (that’s where mine is) and you get the VR prompt. Click to continue and it now automatically launches SteamVR Big Screen for the Menu section. Goes away when you launch a drive session and then reloads afterwards.

Thanks for the tip!

I no longer get the VR prompt, so I can’t follow that procedure. I changed a setting (quite a while ago), but I don’t remember which one or where I found it. However, it’s not a big deal for me.

You probably turned off Theater Mode globally in Steam settings. Don’t remember which tab it is but it might be ā€œGamesā€?

Tried AC for the first time in months and have a few issues that I can’t resolve.

  1. Stutters when moving my head - When i start the game everything is smooth but after a few minutes I get stutters, even on the slightest of movements. Only affects head movements, turning the car is smooth. This happens at all resolutions.
  2. GPU (1080) at 50% - FPS hovering around 80 with @Yata_PL’s settings. Increasing setting just results in lower FPS with marginal increase in GPU%.

I’m using 180.

Game is pretty unplayable at the mo.

Any suggestions? I suppose I should try updating my card driver, I’m on 430.86 but just haven’t got round to it yet.

Ran some laps on AC earlier today using PT180 launching from Content MGR and no issues. Runs as well as 129 did which was great.

Thanks for the tip! I found it under game Properties / General tab.

The head stutter is definitely 180. I had the same issues but further testing tells me that it doesn’t happen all the time. I’m also getting a lot higer GPU usage than that (1080Ti) and am hitting 90 fps even on online servers (practice, not full, although with stock content it seems to be pretty consistent at or around 90 with similar SS slider values).

Try running AC without actually enabling SteamVR. I found this MAY have helped although I cannot say it was the cause. Like I said, try rebooting, running minimal things in background, etc.
