Anyone sticking with the 8k?

This has been developing since Berlin, so certainly 2 weeks could have allowed them time to get in front of the possible demand.

After seeing the reviews looks like im keeping my pimax 4K for DCS & XPlane, (Which I struggle to get 45 FPS with a 1080ti). Im going to stick with my 8k pledge & hope brainwarp eventually arrives.

If I recall correctly the regular 5K is still using OLED panels. In that case some people would still want it for the deeper blacks.

EDIT: … and the answer is NO, the regular 5K is no longer using OLED panels.

No that’s wrong.
They use CLCP panels on all 4 devices.

I’m very torn. 8k supposedly has better contrast, blacker blacks, higher saturation, warmer colors. And tiny things are clearer, and the 5k has color banding. And my opinion is that the 8k will ship sooner. But that overall clarity of the 5k is such a big difference…

5K isn’t using OLED, that was just an early prototype.

This is what tips it for me, color banding and dot pattern. I can live with slightly worse readability as I am not reading books in VR. Compared to the Vive they both look worlds better and I am fairly happy with that right now.

I’m kind of wondering how comparable the sde is on the 5k+ as compared to the Pimax BE ? Would anyone know ?

Can anyone tell me which HMD would be better for video and movies? After reading and seeing the differences between the 5K Plus and 8k my head is spinning I do like viewing movies on HMD’s with the RGB stripe type display so the 5K Plus looks inviting but I also like the Pimax 4K style pixel display. And I really dislike seeing pixels. Also I have (2) 1080 Ti graphics cards I will be running in SLI mode if needed for better SS. Any suggestions ??

I will choose the 5K + because I value crisp images and colors more. Even if SDE is more prominent …

Will the colors be that much better . I have found that the Pimax 4k with LCD panels does’nt have near the color reproduction as any of my HMD’s with OLED panels so sometimes I would rather view with more SDE but better colors

The orginal 5k should be better thsn the BE. Oled Pentile vs RGB lcd(clpl). The 5k has more sub pixels than the BE.

And the 5k+ will look better due to more ppi density over the 5k.

Oled has infinite contrast. SweViver did say the 8k has better color repriduction. And there has neen a recent question about dithering dots on the 5k+?
