Anti SDE for Pimax 5K+ / BE

because I always find people posting referral links so they get a kickback are completely honest in their review…

Not that simple imo, it could be that RGB sub pixels don’t have the same max luminosity, it means affecting the brightness level.

Wrong again but maybe you will learn with time. I hope.
About this was written materials on this forum so we could write the book and coming back again on this topic after it was clearly said what it is. But if you say so let it be like you say Upscale 4K picture is the same as native 4K resolution. You are right I’m wrong. Good luck and be happy m8.

I didn’t say it was simple but such controls are common and in fact almost ubiquitous in media consumption devices.

Hello.

I just wanted to open my own thread with exactly the same request :-).
Yes, PLEASE offer an anti-SDE filter! Optional.

Does anyone have the Odyssey +? He could make photos with and without filters (yes, oben it).
As a comparison, how much that matters. Or is the filter firmly glued?
Or exists a VR glasses with exactly the same display, but without this filter?
That can be used for comparison.

Now we have more information from VoodooDE, MRTV etc. about the SDE of 5K BE.
5K+ and 5K BE has the same resolution, but it seems, the SDE of of the OLED-Version 5K BE is Clearly visible.
Is text worse to read, than on the 5K+?

Samsung had the same problem with the Odysssey +.
Samsung has used a filter, apparently a foil.
That would be a solution for the Pimax 5K BE.
At least optional. Like a screen protector sheet at smartphones.
Offer it to buyers and (changing) backers optional.
If this is easy to install, allow customers to install it themselves. Without losing the warranty.

I think it’s possible to remove the facial part. Then you may have access to the display.
Can apply a foil. Like a protective film on a smartphone.

Perhaps such an anti-SDE filter is the compromise for backers and customers who can not decide.
For example, I have no “preferences” I would play bright games like racing sims (if there is a steam offer), but also Elite Dangerous (there was a offer up to +80%, I bought spontaneously), Beat Saber, dark horror games etc…
I’m “scared” about the reports of the SDE.
But the greyish black of the LCD version is also a disadvantage.

the original Odyssey and the Vive pro…

I still see no point at all to blur a sharp vivid image… until we have native screens that can provide it (Xtal, StarVR…). would you blur your monitor just because you see the pixels on a 1440p screen?

That is an inadmissible comparison.
I use a 1080p monitor.
That is not comparable.
Even a 1280x720p monitor does not look as bad as a VR glasses.

Look the pictures from “skai”. This is only a screen protector foil, but it looks better as the original.
We need pictures with a test image with small text, exact (as possible) same area etc…

"the original Odyssey and the Vive pro… "
Which of these glasses has the Anti SDE filter?

Looks promising.
Try again photos with a good test picture (with text in different sizes, lines etc.), and more exact the same area.

“Screen Protectors” may not be special anti-SDE slides, but a first comparison.

I would say it is very subjective how bad anyhing looks or not, right? so for me it is comparable

I mean you are looking at a static picture with a magnify glass, wait no its a electronic microscope… thats a better comparison?

Soft blobs

Choose your side

Maybe it’s just me but I take 3 things from those pictures…

  1. The colors on the ODY+ are superior to the other 3. The funny thing is, in these pictures the 8K looks better than the vive pro when looking at the black inside the mouth

  2. The screen door filter on the ODY+ is impressive at removing the screen door.

3 The 5K+ Image clarity is far superior to the other 3. Just look at the eye socket and detail around the nose area as well as the distant rear edge of the head. crystal clear and sharp while the other 3 are a blurry mess.

That’s just what I see in those images, you may see it differently as we are all individuals and perceive things differently.

Yes, soft blobs sounds like a advancement from squared minecraft’s graphics, to me. ^^
Just like PsX to Ps2 :v:

Omg the clarity on this is amazing

Looks like you still need to reassure yourself you have made the right choice with the 8K.

Maybe one day you will test the 5K+ so you can stop making precise descriptions of it without having tested it a single time

No need, I did the right choice for me yes.
Who I am to tell you what is the best for you? And who are you to tell me what is the best for me?
Its just like if you were gay and telling everyone they made the wrong choice to no being like you.

How about you and thousands others who didn’t try the 8k? Beside being a fashion victim with native signal, upscalerphobia and 90hz.
Dont want sound childish but at least I tried one and in many ways and configurations. Not just like a few min on a stand.
Oh yeah there is one who has a 8k and tried a 5k+ of a friend and now he wants one ! Ok fine he is not the only one, there is also someone that has 5k+ and dont use it because he prefers the 8k.

I dont even mention the clarity issue that got fixed only recently (But I was bypassing this by increasing Pitool, so I knew how good it can be) and the wobbling issue thing that I dont have that seems to be fixed.

You mean the clarity on the 8K has been fixed ? Was that related to the large FOV not responding to SS ?
I’ve read in the forum that the SS does not work on large FOV but it works on Normal FOV.

That is not 8K specific though ist it?

Yes, couldn’t have the same clarity in Large or even Normal FoV than in Small, which one was good.
Fixed since .91 pitool.

So just talk about that one and not the other one as if you have tried it too and keep doing your “blocks propaganda”

You like your 8K, that’s fine. No need to argue how better it is than the 5K+ you haven’t tried. That doesn’t help and just creates useless war.

As one who need to rely on people feedback to make my choice the only thing I can tell is this “blocks” propaganda only appeared recently. If it had been a real issue we would have heard about it much sooner and from more people.

So the only conclusion I draw is “you” “think” “you” “may” not like the 5K+ because you “have read” some people find it too blocky and preferred the 8K. That’s just your (light argumented) opinion in an ocean of other various feedbacks (with lot of those being from people who tried both, for real :yum: ).

I have tried them both and 5k+ is better hands down!!!
