I would like to know if i can use a Kinect as a headset tracking device? I dont intend on doing any mad turns , i just want to use it to track my seated movements.
kind regards for any help.

there are 2 projects that come to mind
DK1, DK2, Deepoon e2, Pimax 4K, etc for:
but over all my guess would be that its not useful as this onl uses the kinect without the internal inertial 3dof sensors of the hmd and without the sensor fusion of both it will be not useful
the only useful way would be to combine both sources (Doc_ok had a nice video about it, Sensor Fusion for Object Tracking - YouTube)
Dirver4vr & the free KinectToVR should be able to accomplish this.
I have a kinect v2. So in theory I can use this instead of a lighthouse? I only need tracking for my simracing. The 3Dof built in is god awful.
In theory yes both say kinect xb1 support.
Check youtube
kinnect one v2 work perfect with pimax4k and with any vr for foul room scale or foul body tracking or seated play like my video with driver4vr with any steam vr game
That is awesome thanks! @LukeB will be interested in this as well.
