I hear you on Marketing ploys. Marketing is allbto often used to make things sound better.
Ie Theorectical performance based on everything being ideal. Or Dynamic Contrast vs actual real contrast.

Helio is Pimax providing detailed changelogs for 8k/5k+ firmware updates and Pitool updates? Is there a place where we can read some sort of technical detail on what the changes between version are?
Unfortunately they haven’t posted these details very well atm.
So a poke to remind won’t hurt.
@Sean.Huang @Pimax-Support @PimaxVR @deletedpimaxrep1 can you post changelogs for pitool & firmware. Even if basic details.
Pimax I do not know if this is a feature or not, but how about you allow per game settings that allow us to turn it off for games that require it on a game-by-game basis?
Being able to set pitool render quality and other things and associate the settings with each game would make life much easier for users.
look forward to the update.
Also when will brain warp be available , steam has now added a new smoothing feature but it is disabled for pimax headsets. I believe that this feature is probably the most important for lowering the requirements for smooth gameplay.
It seems to be disabled for headsets not sponsored by Valve ie looks like atm htc only.
It is not the matter of the sponsorship, but whether or not the HMD uses SteamVR compositor. For this reason, MR headsets are left out too.
Which as I said sponsored. Valve I beleive is involved in the HTC firmware. The P4k with piplay 1.1.92 uses the steam compositor & does mot have the new smoothing feature either.
If LG ultragear ever gets released it will have the new smoothing as it’s the next Valve Sponsored headset.
Does anyone know if Project Cars 2 requires Parallel Projection to be on?
Check the first post of the thread in the link.
There is a list of games with Parallel Projections settings.
It says for PC2 Parallel Projection needs to be on.

Thanks I see it now. Appreciate that
You’re welcome mate
Why does the user have to set the compatibility flag? How is the user supposed to find out which engine version was used for the game? Why is the Pimax tool not able to read out this info from the game, if that is so easy, and make the appropriate settings? Why, why, why. -.-
Technically, they could write software to detect what games are installed and select an mostly configured profile that sets the compatibility flag. But they would take programer time and they are working on color correction and other things at present (guessing here: improved distortion profiles, better firmware, color profiles, gamma correction, fixing whatever is wonky with PiTool .90, etc). We’ve already asked for profile sharing / community profiles, so I think this is something we’ll see eventually, but is a lower priority than other things they must work on.
Atm you are if a backer Early Adopter. The software is still being worked out. In time it will have routines to potenially enable & disable say Unreal & Unity games on the fly that require Parallel projections. However some ollder non unreal/unity games may need this enable/disable by the user.
I think in terms of software their top priority should be brainwarp /reprojection/ 60-70hz /smooth rendering or whatever, it takes 5 seconds to change pitool and steam options, but bad performance is something that is damaging Pimax consumer perspective as a whole, and I bet that 90% of the people that may consider purchasing it won’t do it since they lack a 1080ti or better.
no when you are doing super sampling to fix the poor screen resolution.
