A possible method to increase clarity and remove blur?

Suggestion for clarity viewing in your 5K

I got this off the Bridge Commander issue thread and gave it a shot with my 8K - it cleared Il2 BoS up no end and the landscape detail improved no end - no blur.

Nvidia Control Panel under Adjust Desktop Size and Position No.2 Apply the Following Settings - Scaling

** Set it to No Scaling where it sets Set a Scaling Mode.**

The default Scaling Mode setting is Aspect Ratio.

Changing this scaling setting has improved image quality through my Headset no end. Landscape clarity and focus, less Aliaising - it is like wiping Vaseline off your lenses.

lmao, thanks will totally try this

Wait. That would mean the Pimax HMD is treated as a monitor, is that the case?

This feels like a throwback to long-forgotten DK1 and DK2 times, where extended mode was all the rage.

That’s interesting. I’ll have to give this a try also. Mine already looks good to me but better is better.

This might be an issue with nvidia as the headset doesn’t show as a display.

Which is because it absolutely shouldn’t show as a display!

Not running an HMD in direct mode is so 2015…

I’ll see if I can reproduce what @blitze stated regarding the scaling options but I seriously doubt this would have any effect if the HMD isn’t (wrongly) configured in extended mode.

If the display is configured in extend mode the headset would show in display properties. It doesn’t in mine. (Remember those who used piplay to set their 5k/8k in video/extend mode - pimax hesdset didn’t like it)

Now like I said have to check nvpanel to see hoew scaling is configured. We should also compare if this is on both or perhaps the 20series only. Nvidia at times has really buggy drivers.

I need to check as the clarity on my 1080tti is already pretty nice. So am curious if would be better & I haven’t had any program launch crashes on unity.

My dear @Heliosurge, that is literally what I am saying

If the HMD is in direct mode, there should be no scaling effect via the NV driver.

If the HMD is in extended mode, change it to direct mode rather than tampering with scaling.

It only show No.1, my monitor, no second in the nvidia panel. Which driver do you use and which graphics card?

That’s the right option, direct mode.

But if it’s in direct mode already then there is a possible bug in Nvidia or possibly W10 as windows does some strange things with scaling.

It works! Some friends have tried it and it seems that the image improves a lot also in the 8K!

There has to be a major bug that makes the Pimax look like a monitor, it should go into direct mode, but the thing is it works, thanks, man!
I recommend everyone to try it.

@PimaxVR, better take a look on this!

Where…?

You have to check “No scaling”, instead of “Aspect Ratio”.

For the…main monitor…really? :expressionless:

That’s what it looks like, if you don’t get it as a second monitor.
From my (spanish) friend:

My friends report that they also get about 2-3fps more, since their nVidia don’t have to rescalate.

I’m expecting more Spanish teammates with the Pimax 5K+ and 8K to do more testing, but one with the 8K says he’s tried his favorite games (and porn) and the improvement is substantial, almost equal to the 4K (he has one).

If I see that they all say the same thing, you better make a new thread on this topic or I will, as you want.

It is confirmed by two more friends with 8k who clearly see that it looks better , Although it doesn’t have any logic.

This needs to be discussed in its own thread.
