Purpose of topic to say thanks or share a positive comment to help encourage Pimax along.
Recognize something positive Pimax has done?
Here is a golden opportunity for readers, followers, vr enthusiast, backers, participants, and futurist to show Pimax you currently appreciate and recognize their effort thus far in bringing Pimax 8K to the world and with that the hope of a new and improved VR experience.
Please just say thanks or share a positive comment or word of encouragement to Pimax to give a boost to help keep them going.
What inspired me to start this topic was my own recognition after following the Pimax 8K kickstarter, here and on the campaign comments section, and observing what seems like monumental if not impossible effort by the Pimax Team to address the enormous variety of questions and concerns by the backers and potential future customers myself included. (8KXHMD+8KHMD) backer.
So from me to the Pimax Creator, developers, engineers and promoters I like what I see.
Thank You and Keep going strong
Please try to keep this thread on topic as an expression of thanks and appreciation for what Pimax are doing it is intended for their benefit thank you
Yep what pimax is doing is creating a new segment for enthusiast level VR.
unfortunetly the big boys like oculus and htc seem focused on mainstream market by creating mobile standalone headsets and no love seems to be going to those of us who are willing to fork out cash for a better next gen experience
i applaud them for taking this chance and possibly revolutionizing the stagnant vr market
is it a coincifence that around the kickstarter for this project. acer bought out starVR
could they realize that there is a market for 200 fov headsets for the home market?
what about lg? i feel that last prototype they showed off 6 months ago was a pointless regurgitation of the gen 1 vive.
Thank you for trying to do something better, not just a revisiting with small improvements.
Thinking about the 200 fov, better resolution, eye tracking, hand tracking, wireless…
This is what the nextgen is supposed to be like, a product that gamers actually want, not just a compromise.
Let Oculus, Samsung and the others get the mass market of cheap HMD.
Pimax should aim for the elite, those that know what they want and are ready to pay the price of pioneering technologies.
And with a bit of luck, Pimax might attract the chinese giants and have Xiaomi or some other buy them.
Oculus, Vive, Samsung & the rest are doing important work. We need mass adoption to drive vr content into the mainstream as much as we need PiMax ti cover med hi to high end to attrack & entice pcmaster race gamers.
Personally I would like to see PiMax be independent to keep its purity. More & more we are seeing little guys proving large companies are not all that efficient. Just look at the Author of Onward. 1 man created something awesome & has planted him on the map.
Keep pressing forward showing the big guys the little guy should’t be underestimated!
A good way to show our appreciation would be to start a thread for marketing suggestions. There must be plenty of graphics people on the forum who could come up with some good marketing material @Heliosurge ? Some suggestions to help them compete with Oculus’s apple style marketing
I am extremely grateful to Pimax for the pioneerism they have embraced and I believe that, as long as the 8K is not sold commercially, the best marketing they can have and they must focus on, is to deliver to the first backers a headset of extreme quality and performance, and with this, the good reviews and product information will naturally spread across the market.
also yes oculus and vive are doing important work. as we enthusiasts are a small percentage of the market.
but every category of technology (monitors, harddrives, keyboards, mice, gamepads, motherboards etc, etc) has an enthusiast section. its all about choice. glad to see the vr market follow suit
i was always disappointed to see that starvr had no plans to release on steamvr or panasonic with their 200 fov headset.
maybe now they will see that there is a market for it.
I salute you Pi!
I think you’re awesome and that you’re doing a really cool thing for us with this much appreciated next step in these early days of VR.
I hope that the 8K and X will be the first hmds to give us enthusiasts the experience that we’ve always sort of dreamed of - playing games, watching movies and being creative in VR without being held back by low res binoculars equipped with screen doors.
I hope you pull it off. But IF NOT, then, yeah, well we tried right? It was worth a shot! At least for me as a backer. As long as you give your best then I will stand by you.
I’m grateful for what you do so - really - thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thanks, Pimax. I’m interested in VR, but the current generation of headsets have too many issues, like low res and screen door effect. I was waiting for someone to release a headset like the 8K. Thank you, for avoiding the status quo.
I look forward to getting my headset, whenever it’s shipped. I’d rather have it delayed, but be good, instead of shipping on time, with known problems.
Pimax didn’t directly say this, but danced around the notion that this project is to boost their brand name and help them enter the big leagues of VR. They are not making a lot of money just yet on any of this, more of a future investment. I salute Pimax for taking the risk, and catering to enthusiast VR market. A success for Pimax is a success for all of us.
First and foremost: THANK YOU!
While rift and vive seem to want to sit in vr spec limbo, put us on a slow drip tech spec feed over time, you are a company after my own heart.
I would probably guess I speak for a larger community of prexisting vr users here. Vive or rift users.
We have been waiting for this, waiting for you. For this product. For that Field of view.
To not feel claustrophobic from a constrained field of view and see with crystal clarity.
The first major holy grail of vr right there.
From what i’ve Heard from the likes of sweviver, even the version 2 was already awesome.
So I look forward to moving forward with you guys and you have me and others full support.
PS, dont forget to hop on the phone with VALVE if you guys are stuck on a problem, I’m sure they can work with you guys! They want you to succeed too, remember!
Keep moving forward! Innovate! Write down your problems on paper and look at them right when your eyes open (your brain can actually look at problems differently at those breif moments).
As a P8K backer, I’d like to echo what everyone else has been saying. It’s a brave move to push something like this by Pimax, when most of the industry doesn’t consider the technology to be mature enough.
Brave, avant-garde, and pioneering. Thank you for pushing the goal posts Pimax.
Just when I thought I’d have to wait another 3yrs to be able to see a plane in the distance in iL2 along comes Pimax. I can’t wait to have the massive VR advantage. So thank you Pimax
