If the headset is displaying different blinking colors and the HMD driver is being recognized as the Guillemot STM DFU device, you can follow these steps to uninstall the driver:

  1. Open the Device Manager on your computer.
  2. Locate the Guillemot STM DFU device driver in the list.
  3. Right-click on the driver and select “Uninstall” or “Remove.”
  4. Confirm the driver uninstallation if prompted.

Once you have uninstalled the driver, you can proceed with the instructions provided in the article you mentioned (HMD flashes red, blue and green and can't be connected : Pimax Support) to flash the firmware again using the DFU tool. The article should provide detailed instructions on how to perform the firmware flashing process.

It’s important to note that following these instructions requires technical knowledge and understanding of the process. If you are unsure or uncomfortable performing these steps, it is recommended to seek assistance from technical support or the manufacturer of the device for further guidance.

don’t remember what I actually did, I plugged the headset in another pc, it showed as st something dfu in device manager but that needed drivers. i installed the latest client and didn’t run it… I went to the dfu.exe in the folder and it read the hmd then i used the M299 firmware that was posted here and it went through fine. Plugged it back to my gaming pc and bam all good…

I gotta say this for some reason it actually looked better than before. it kinda looked a little sharper and the motion blur while turning the head was a lot less…

Played Half Life alyx for about 3 hours. no eye fatigue or strain… The ipd offset method with holding the index controller out and raising the headset to see if the real one and vr match in the same spot helped out a lot. but for some reason i did notice that the position does change on restart sometimes . I remember changing it and then it bothered my eyes so i put the old values back and stayed there ever since… I only did the horizontal. I know the vertical is off a bit maybe soon I’ll try to adjust those

Awesome glad to hear things are working. pimax hmds can be very finicky at times and do odd things. Hopefully they can work more on the software to ensure a smoother consistent xp for all.

That whole experience with the Stuck DFU was a pain , It just makes me nervous in updating to a newer firmware if one comes out.

No need to be too nervous. Pimax hmd is not as brickable like other products due to the firmware boot loader being a Rom

Glad to hear that!

I’m just curious, Any fix for the motion blur or ghosting/blurry when turning your head… Headset is on good and doesn’t move

There is a possibility that a debug firmware could address the ghosting issue you are experiencing.

Hello,

This is the most up-to-date firmware for the 8KX.
If HAGS or parallel projection are currently enabled, we kindly request that you disable these settings.

HAGS is disabled and PP is off, I’m on a 13900k , 4090 , ddr5 32gb @7800

HAGS seems to now work on client 1.12

i have that and PP on, and i am fine.
though my headset is FW V2002 SN2076

I recommend making adjustments to the backlight setting to see if it helps resolve the issue.

Additionally, I suggest submitting a ticket to our technical specialists. They will be able to conduct a comprehensive troubleshooting process, examining both the headset and system setup, in order to identify and address any potential issues.

I apologize if this has been asked one too many times. I have Pimax 8kx one of the earlier units SN PE0206D1Y1180501960. Computer specs i9-10900k and RTX 3080ti. I am now only able to use 75hz in native mode . I did install beta firmware for the 90 hz upgrade however it does not work. The list of older graphics drivers compatible with Pimax 90 hz beta firmware upgrade does not have a driver for my card. I was wondering how I can gain acces to 120 hz upgrade. Thank you In advance.

Hey!

What firmware version is currently installed on your 8KX headset?

The 120Hz beta firmware is accessible for 8KX headsets with a serial number starting from 2076.

You might want read more about the 90hz beta firmware on this patch notes.
