8k Plus - What do you want to know?

EVERYTHING. Performance, Image Quality, Distortion, how it compares to other Pimax and other headsets.

SDE, sharpness and performance and do you still prefer the 5K+.

NDA? Thought you would have been on this sooner.

A lot of viewers waiting.

Is it worth upgrading from the 5k+?

Paging @SweViver and @PimaxUSA ! Please answer to my pressing question that I sent to your email address. Thanks!

Contrast, colors, and SDE. Sharpness too I guess.

The 8k X has a better analogix chip which can handle native 4k at a high refresh rate. The 8k+ has a less powerful one

imho it’s 5° for index and 10° for pimax, for a single panel, and when i do some quick math to it, one is +10° the other -10° …

what i don’t get is that the only difference between 8k+ and 8kx is anx7530+scaler against anx7538 and a better quality 5m cable for the 8kx (hbr3 mode) - and that’s 300 bugs?

@mixedrealityTV how about a little lens swap test 8k ↔ 8k+
and defiantly the wobble test and compare against 8k (and 5k+)
also a tear down to check if its a anx7530 and what exact panels are used (yeah i know its not going to happen)

Thanks for providing the infos which chips are likely used! Ok, right, no DSC needed yet for 2xUHD@75 Hz. Interestingly the anx7538 does seem to support DSC (in contrast to the anx7530). Perhaps this means that higher refresh rates are in the cards in a later firmware revision for 8k X?

that was already told here in the forum by pimax, they are in talk with nvidia about the dsc implementation and still hoping to go beyond the announced for the 8kx

Pretty sure Sweviver explained there are more differences than you’d think.

maybe i don’t have enough (marketing) imagination, we will see when testers have both 8kx and 8k+

For me it is about image clarity for a given Render Target Resolution. At lower resolutions the 8K is quite blurry, I wonder if the new scaler has improved on this coupled with the new panels.

It is why I try to drive my 8K at high resolutions to try and clear up the image especially over distance.

For me the biggest concern is legibility of text, any chance you could show us a through the lens comparison in a test environment? HUD elements in games are often my biggest restricting factor for VR. Thanks!
