why sell 8k?
5k + is the best recommended by testers. it’s not good! 8k should be better!
we backers are a few thousand. what will happen when all the reviews will say that the 5k + is better than 8k? I believe 8k will die.
for me pimax should not sell 8k.
those already built or ready to be sold to business customers or backers who want it but not to sell it to the masses.
pimax build and sell only 5k +
change upscaler chips and maybe lenses to get an 8k + for better clarity and color.
8kx asks too much power gpu is not mandatory if 8k + is good.
the 8k backers now receive 5k + and in 2019 they change for free in 8k + by paying only for shipping.
who is happy with 5k + keeps hmd and has a reward of 100 $.
I just wrote this else were ,not just me then ,replying to question about swapping later to 8kx
As a business i dont see this happening unless sales go thro the roof ,swapping headsets out is not going to keep pimax going and its likely that once new hardware like 2080ti has been fully optimized so someone could say we can comfortably render 6.5k ,the scaler chips could be remastered and the 8k would shine once more or screens reduced to suit as native seems to run better ,so we could see the 8k disappear alltogether with all pimax has learned this wouldn’t be so hard for them right now ,make way for the 6k !!
But for now we have what we have and asking pimax to take a step back isnt going to benefit them or the future market ,but of coarse once production gets ramped up it maynot be a big cost to them at all but i wouldnt get my hopes up
I can Honestly see the 8k getting dropped soon after kickstarter pledges fulfilled ,or at lest redeveloped as the 5k+ seems to carry its weight right now ,futer proofing makes sense
Some people prefer less SDE. A softer image doesn’t mean it’s bad overall just has certain flaws, same as a 1080p tv at 55" looks horrible compared to a 24" 1080p monitor.
It will come down to individual’s visual preferences.
Some will prefer crispy fried chicken (5k+) while others will prefer softer fried chicken (8k).
weird hu pretty much the same page but if think hard on it you realy gotta have both head sets to see the big picture as you say ,but im gonna look forward to the next generation as much as this one

I feel that if Pimax can work out the intricacies of adding a sharpening / brightness / color adjustment suite of tools into PiTool before consumer release then they can still have a pair of game changers here. I honestly believe that is where they should have their efforts focused - especially since they will have a growing community of Beta Testers as these headsets get delivered to backers. Both headsets would benefit greatly through whatever image preprocessing can be done using the graphics hardware present in our own systems.
