Truth i think also Tested seemed to be potenially biased as well. But letting them try the v3 prototype would be a good follow up to see.
The initial Doc_ok article was also due to no proper update on openvr.api informing if changes that supported what Robin said. (angled displays & fov update)
Especially with the positive reviews now on the v2 prototype. Those who get the opportunity to try the v2 to get an idea of Bigscreen beta clarity on text - close one eye.
Yeah I wonder how independent these guys really are. Then again it might indeed just have been the language barrier + wrong IPD. Then again, I wonder how a wrong IPD setting might have caused the impression of 100 tot 200 degrees stretching, I always found that to be weird.
Hard to say. But often Chinese manufactures have been given a bad rep due to media press over the years of counterfeit manufacturers & low quality budget (dollarstore) manufacturers.
I am sure that many are unaware that foxconn makes the iphone for Apple.
Just a case of a few bad apples coloring ppls view of the whole basket.
Yeah I’m pretty sure that was incorrect software lens correction on their part. as they admitted to that they fixed it afterwards and everyone who tried it agreed it was indeed fixed.
one of those tested guys said that the ipd was off and hurt his eyes so the pimax guy had to go to the pc and do a software adjustment.
which means that the image was shifted instead of a true hardware adjustment. meaning the image may have been shifted incorrectly relative to the lens.
which would probably result in the incorrect warping that he saw
all of this would not be an issue with hardware adjustment which the final version is said to have
because the lenses and image would move together
