10m Pimax Cable WHEN?

I had to find out there are no proper DisplayPort extension cables on the market.

I can’t use my Pimax because the PC is too far away. When will we be getting out 10m cables?

@sweviver & others have had success with extentions. But a great question nonetheless.

Pimax 5k+.

I have ordered a 3m cable today with morning express. (lol)

But the cable has very weak specs.

  • DisplayPort 1.2 HD 1080p, 1600p compatible

I’m on vacation this week, initially I didn’t think it would be that difficult to get DP extension cables! I was going to 2 shops today but nothing.

Yeah probably going to need one rated for 1.4 (though if like Sata) often older cables can push more. But hard to say.

It would have sounded better to say “right after”.

But after … after means sometimes afterwards. After means a long time. :-/

I have my 3m DP cable extension by LINDY (overnight-express). It doesn’t work…
My PC is too far from the play space. I haven’t used the Pimax roomscale a single time. :frowning:

But it’s good that we can at least have a 10m cable from Pimax. There is no option left. If you need more money, I WILL PAY IT, I WANT MY CABLE. :zipper_mouth_face:

Check the review directory in the banner. I think there is at least one post on cable extensions reported thst work.

I know @SweViver had used a set with no problem. So likely a brand issue.

works like a charm but might be too short for you.

Just FYI, I have found no 1.4 certified DP extension cables at all. The higher the distance you want to go, the higher priced model you should choose because at some point it’s all about preventing data loss by high quality shielding.

The 10m extension offered by Pimax is quite the technological achievement tbh, looking forward to playing with it before becoming obsolete when the wireless solution is made available.

1,8m isn’t a lot but it’s a good start. Better than nothing.
God I’m so stupid, I should have tried it with 2x Rankie cables. PERHAPS it works, who knows!? o_O

I have ordered a second Rankie DP 1,8m cable and it works, too! I have 3,6m extension now.
But so far I have only tested in idle. I have yet to play some games with it to really find out.

My USB is extended by 3m cable + 1,8m cable, hooked to USB3.1. Otherwise it wouldn’t work.
I’m not sure if I can really do the 3+1,8 USB one but I will have to find out.

Otherwise it’s going to be effective 3m extension with only one USB cable.
(DisplayPort 3,6m + USB 3,0m + power)

On a side note:

The little white LEDs that randomly appear everywhere in the displays and a black grid is gone with the Rankie cable. I think my PC (or power cables or whatever) is emitting a lot of EMI and the Pimax cable can’t handle it. So the first 1,8m (3,6m) are Ranke cable which are thicker and better against EMI

This would mean, everybody would be doing better with the thicker cable near the PC, then pimax cable later… but as just 1 person I cannot confirm this. It’s just my experience. Sadly I think the Pimax cable (display port) really is too thin
