Hi there. I’ve had my email from Pimax, and I opted for the 5k+, over the 8k that I’d pledged for They’ve asked which accessories I want, and when I asked what the options are, it’s basically the same stuff that I already have included. So do I opt for another lighthouse (is this beneficial?) or twenty face cushions? I’d almost rather just have $100 credit against future modules. What are other people doing?
I saw that some people seem to be asking for another $100 off the wireless module (when it’s available) if that interests you at all? Sounds better than 20 face cushions at least!
If I take the + over the 8K I’ll take either leap motion, or 10m cable + bank $30 (if allowed).
What backer # are you by chance?
I’m 125, I think. It’s a bit confusing - in their emails they seem to be asking me what I want in terms of accessories, but in the last update they said they’d give us a coupon for $100.
The $100 coupon is for the accessories
Yes, I know, but the email isn’t at all clear about it. I’m just going to assume we’re getting the coupon!
20 face cushions lol. I asked for the leap motion, figure it might be neat
That’s the way I’m leaning too. The question is: How many games will support it?
Wireless Module. Since everything else is basically included with the stretch goals it be very disappointing if its not an option.
I bought and set up a leap motion for my Vive an can tell you that support is very very poor. I raced through all the tech demos (there isn’t much else currently) in just an evening.
One of my hope for the pimax campaign was that the better leap motion module would increase interest and we’d see better support for the thing, as the technology is solid.
That is interesting I have just sent a question to Pimax, if I could add hand tracking module to my pledge (as I did not do that in the KS). The other option I figured out would be to buy it from someone who downgraded his 8K to 5K+ and did not know how to spend his 100 bucks. I admit I am merely interested in the technology, not necessarily need it to be used in games.

That’s good to know. Maybe I should get the wireless module instead.
Any idea if it can be put towards new controller when available?
The way I understood PimaxVR is that you have a coupon for 100$ for any extras in addition to the 100$ coupon stretch goal that is only valid for the wireless module.
So best is to wait it out and see how things develop. I can see different priorities…
- I’d wait for the wireless module to arrive.
- When going more than 2 base stations you most likely want the 10m extension cable first.
- The leap motion module has big potential but as long as we don’t push VR developers to support it they won’t move, they didn’t for years now. Maybe we will see some customizable LM controller scheme in SteamVR some day that can be bound to games individually.
- You might later find out that you would just want one of the other controller types
- In case PimaxVR will ever offer an upgrade via replacement lenses it would just be fair to use the coupon for that.
- The scent module was discussed and might show up as a gimmick one day, maybe even for retail
- There is potential for other matching accessories sold by PimaxVR in future, like a headset stand etc.
Support is mostly social apps. Except bigscreen beta temporarily pulled support because they must have caught wind I was getting one.
i will choose an extra lighthouse also, although the headset is tracking 360 the controllers will only track 180
i will ask for the hand tracking module.
I’d really appreciate it if they would give me a coupon for a computer that can actually run the headset at a reasonable framerate
Anyways, it would be nice if there were more options. One of the stretch goals was to include some games/software. How about giving us an option to spend the coupon on some more VR software of our choice?
What do you think the wireless module will cost?
Since I have already backed literaly everything I hope for an official statement that they provide an (additional) 100€ coupon for the wireless module. I know its on good faith from my side but I don’t see an alternative. @deletedpimaxrep1
