Zotac 3090 Trinity

Hi all,

Just received mine today and spun it up with my 8KX. I tried a couple of titles - ED, FO4VR and it is unbelievable what a difference VR is now with an Ampre.

I’m completely blown away and still in awe…

Thought I’d share.

I have an i9 9900K on the way with this cooler: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00L7UZMAK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Is that a good combination? I hope the cooler fits in my case

Do you feel that 3090 is a bit of an overkill for 8KX or is it just right or even may be not enough in some titles?

the d15 is an awesome cooler and it will keep your furnace nicely quiet and cool.

It’s just right for getting a perfectly smooth or close to smooth framerate in more demanding titles like Skyrim, Asgard’s Wrath, and Assetto Corsa, but it’s still not enough for all VR titles. At least when all graphic settings are maxed out.

Don’t think there is such a thing as overkill in high resolution VR. Could easily drink down another 4x GPU power and still see benefits.

Congrats man, makes me look forward to receiving my RTX 3090 even more. Coming from a 1080ti as well.

I agree with this, my 3090 FE is handling pretty much everything in my library except a couple things. No Man’s Sky and Hellblade still are quite taxing when it comes to performance. I assume that’s just the game design and lack of optimization for VR. As far as everything else, the 3090 absolutely shreds it. It’s definitely a large improvement over my 2080ti and especially noticeable when playing Oculus titles. I’m also able to crank the SS up to crazy high levels on most games which is pretty awesome.
