In this video, I will tell you guys everything you need to know about the Oculus Quest 2, HP Reverb G2, Pimax 8KX and other VR Headsets such as StarVR One, Valve Index, and Pimax 5K Super.
At the moment, I am shopping for Vive Pro, because it is the only other headset which accommodates my IPD of 72 mm with “modern” resolution (apart from Pimax, which I already have).
I have only Pimax 5k+ (203 series) to compare with and while I can appreciate the FOV I am always facing a geometric distortion and the dull colors, which both I realize when I put my Quest 1 on.
Recently I borrowed Vive Pro (to update my lighthouses I got from Pimax) and realized how big this difference is (less distortion and much better colors and contrast) when playing Alyx. So I would not say the image quality is bad, it has less resolution though.
Besides, my FOV is anyway limited by my glasses to some extent so I run my Pimax at Normal and still cannot see it all (through my glasses FOV).
Second reason is I want some “native” HMD, which is fully supported in SteamVR ecosystem (which unfortunately Index does not match as it has too low IPD).
Imposible to get the colors as oled screen but with playing around in PE I think you can get it ok with colors, but sde is so much worse on vive pro and for the money they want your getting close to 8k-x
I am just torn on whether to upgrade or continue waiting. Currently have an 8k and it’s the only one I have ever used. Given up on it because the headaches are brutal. But I have neck disc issues that give me headaches 24/7 that I live with via pain meds. VR at least with my 8k just overwhelms even those.
So if I were to upgrade from the 8k, my 2 most important requirements I think are ipd of 73 and major comfort improvements. Does any headset nail those 2 items? Or do I continue waiting?
