That is not the purpose of banning. Its purpose is to deal with trolls and unnecessary personal insults (like @jimh54 right here).

I took that as jab as a playful/friendly joke/insult between two people that have interacted somewhat frequently.
Nothing quite like a little friendly trolling between friends.

But ya… the forums have been a little toxic with incivility lately.
