Wheres all the OMG posts?

Heres one…“OMG” just for starters

Im coming from oculus DK2 to Pimax 8K…The FOV is finally where it should be.
And when I say FOV, its not just left and right views, its up and down aswell.
Not got the feeling im just looking at a screen anymore.

Okay, little setting up is needed, but just (heres another) OMG.
This is what ive been waiting for years and years, since first trying on a VR headset at the trocadero in the '80’s…

I get all the negative posts about the support etc, but going on performance of the product alone, for me, they have done it BIG time.

They might as well be very quiet, because the product itself can do all the talking it needs…

ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY INCREDIBLE VR HAS ARRIVED

Because everyone who has had that moment is to busy enjoying their headset to come here.

I’ve done loads! OMG my headset has light leaking, OMG my replacement headset has stuck pixels, OMG my headset is cracking, OMG my replacement headset is cracking, OMG the black dot pattern is gone on my 3rd headset, OMG my 3rd headset is cracking :joy:

To add, I actually really like the pimax, I’m more impressed with #3 and love it now. The enthusiasm was just knocked back for a while having issues to deal with, and the new one has sneaked in with cracking again which is disappointing, but for now I’ll enjoy and await news of further improvements.

You are right - I had that moment yesterday, when Skyrim started and for some reason its Image Quality was pumped up - and damn that was crisp and incredible with the large field of view!
SO yes OMG I is great!!!

( But there is a but… I have some issues with the HMD that are still not resolved and am missing the “room scale” equipment - if it all falls into place as it should, I guess we PiMax’ers are not going to be using Gen 1 HMDs very much anymore…. )

Hey now that you mention it… I think my replacement also has much less black pattern so that is another positive point! - I totally forgot about that since i did not notice it at all!

because everyone is too busy trying to get their headset to work rather than actually being able to see it.

Definitely omg at elite dangerous
Super omg at adr1ft
Really hated alien isolation, that game just needs oled. Not pimax specific just lcd.
Haven’t seen pimax without sparkles yet, hoping for new dp cable on 8th… Third time lucky.

LOL, I know what you mean, I’ve been pretty impressed so far but I’m also still struggling a bit with all the settings and adjustments and trying to find the sweet spot for games with the 3 or 4 ways you can adjust SS, then getting the IPD right and downloading drivers etc… Also I have the rift so I’m stuck with a Xbox controller and 3 DOF so that kills the buzz a bit. Quite a few games that don’t work without, The Blue being a notable one, considering there is sweet FA you can interact with.

I’ve had a couple of standout OMG moments, one was in Skyrim too, once I got it dialled in right, I could see the textures properly for the first time, even better than you can see them on flat world. I just stared at the double moonrise, you could easily see all the craters, never noticed them before! So I spent a few hours updating mods to tweak it more
The other was Battlezone, wow! Just great! Driving the tank with a large FOV is amazing. It works perfectly with a controller too.

I’ve only got a GTX 1070 so it has been hard to get some decent visual results, I saw @VoodooDE using a 1050Ti but I’m partial to eye candy so I’ll be looking for an RTX something very soon.

The other OMG was getting a delivery notification from DPD before the package arrived! :joy: I have been blessed.

What really rocks though is Brainwarp, they have some coding geniuses. Considering it’s a first release of a feature they’ve done an outstanding job on that.

My OMG moments involve me Hunting Stukas over Stalingrad in my La5, being vectored towards an enemy flight - having to climb hard as they usually come in 1k meters above me and then trying to sus which one is the Stuka and not the 109 escorts.

Then it is a case of being determined to get the Stuka, ignoring the 109’s who you prey will run off and chase down the rest of your flight and then blow the Stuka out of the sky preventing the destruction of a bridge. Then it’s turn about and go and help my flight deal with the 109’s and make it back to base admiring the view on the way, in one piece.

On the 8K it is awesome:+1:

The other OMG is WTF are the settings that will work to give me speed, decent image clarity and why can’t it be arranged in a way that makes sense cause at the moment it feels like a case of mix and match fairy dust sprinkling. SteamVR is mainly to blame for this. A screen is a screen no mater the big lens plonked in front of it and thus - Render Targets should take HMD Screen Resolutions into account when offering target options.

Sliding percentage scale alterations do not help. If I set PiTool to 1 - I can not get SteamVR to doal in a render target based on the 8K screen resolution. I have to set PiTool to 1.75 for that which is weird but to get a SS setting of 1.5 of the native resolution - Oh dear. PiTool 1, SteamVR Video 42%, App 164%

I mean - where is the logic in that?
Why Not PiTool 1, SteamVR Video 100%, App 150% - where Video is for general settings at 100% res of HMD screen native and App 150% being the app using SS1.5 on the native res of the HMD screen??

Totally agree about the settings issues, not sure that will ever be removed, as there are so many factors involved with differing systems etc…
Although can and will be improved with time im sure.

The OMG on first flight moment…every flight I have it seems I am taking in the scenery.

Settings are quite frustrating to work around and with regards to SS values in relation to Native HMD Panel Resolutions, are they the sum total of pixels VxH then by 1.5 or what?

Need for clearer and more logical settings that give results in relation to the screens being used.

I’m happy to see some OMG posts. Just too bad your account was created 3 days ago. I’m gonna need more meat on this to accept is as truth

Would that be Grass Fed Organic Meat or the regular Feed Lot Stuff?
