Linus took a look at the Index…
uh…im pretty sure the Index headphones arent actually headphones and arent suppose to actually touch your ears.
also how accurate would you say this FOV comparison is to your experience.
He means essentially the off ear soeakers swung out of position.
Exactly. English is the third language I learnt. Pardon me for my bad vocabulary.
My Idex just turned up, now I can think about RMA on My Pimax
Furk Linus!!!
I compare Headset Mirror images displays from my Valve Index and HTC Vive and Valve index not show more horizontal and vertical FOV. At all.
Just see gif. Its images direct from displays with color and aberration compensation.
You can confirm with hmdq tool (Releases · risa2000/hmdq · GitHub) that rendered FOV by HTC Vive and Valve Index are almost the same.
For what? Just see dispay images, there more information. Valve rendered more FOV, but cut it. Headset Mirror option for Vive and Index make 2 images - rendered image and image transferred direct to display.
If you are interested in knowing the numbers, hmdq can provide them. It does not show any image though, so if you are more interested in the images it won’t help.
Was hoping it might be a little bigger. That very disappointing.
Any news about a wireless adapter for the index?
Very early on (1:10), she says its clear the pimax resolution is better than the index and FOV(duh). But the index is better at everything else.
Hum on the resolution some other reviews said slightly better
I confirm, that in Index have got the better SDE, so the resolution with the valve headset ist better.
The only advantage of the pimax is the fov.
Folks keep forgetting that if you cut off the FoV to match Index that Index has more Resolution. So reduced SDE vs 5k+ is no contest. If Vive Pro & Odyssy was RGB, they would also have the same subpixel density vs 5k+.
Well, the resolution is about the same. Valve however chose to implement a diffusion filter in the Index, to combat SDE and pixel pattern. It works very well, I never notice any pixel pattern (unless I actively look for it) on the Index, while in the 5k+ I find it disturbing at times. However this comes at the cost of SLIGHTLY more blur. I noticed it yesterday while doing some more A-B-ing. However it’s very refined and nowhere comparable to the Odyssey+ which has way too much blur. In fact, text looks just better on the Index than the pimax 5k+, letters are more ‘rounded’ instead of more ‘blocky’ like on the 5k+.
I find the index much more immersive than the 5k+ and I’m starting to think one of the factors contributing to that is the diffusion filter they used (next of course to higher refresh rates and no distortion)
One thing I did notice on the index, cant remember if its the same with the Pimax, but when you look straight ahead you see more FOV with you Peripheral vision left and right then you do if you look left or right, so anything creeping up on you left or right you will still see it.
seems subjective, …
