Tracking issue - latency, wobbling effect with new 5k XR

Hi all,

I just have get my new 5k XR, and has unusable tracking issues.
I have one base station and 2 controllers. The tracking has latency
and “wobbling” lagging effect.
I also tried with 'lightouse tracking off+, but the same result.
I have core i9900+rtx2080ti,64gb ram.

Please help!!!

My suggestion would be to watch this video. Also, make sure you don’t have any reflective surfaces in the room (ie mirrors, large glass windows/picture frames) that might reflect the light from the basestations.

If that doesn’t work, then we would probably need more information to help. ie

  • Which version of PiTool do you have installed?
  • Are your GPU drivers up-to-date?
  • Are you using SteamVR beta or non-beta?

Thanx for suggestions, but it is NOT about not tracking issue. It is about
the tracking is unusable. I mean it has a bit latency and wobbling effect, jumping,
not smooth. If you move your head it is lagging all the time. It is the same issue when
no lighthouse tracking, just the pimax own tracking system. The same issue.

Sounds like you need to submit a support ticket & get a remote session.

Also try other USB ports.

Could also be a background process causing it.

I had the same (or similar) issue and it was caused by ASUS Aura software.

Try stopping processes (if You know what you’re doing) one by one and see if it helps.

DrWilken!!

Jesus! I have turned off the motherboard AURA and everything is working like a charm!!!
It is so so strange that a motherboard led lighting is crashing the VR smoothing!!!

So, thanx man!!!

Cheers,
George

@Heliosurge This should probably be added to a list of fixed troubleshooting issues

So I was hoping that would work for me as well but alas no. I’m having insanely bad tracking issues where the headset just goes bonkers a bit like

Just flips around and in general just loses tracking. Not only the headset but controllers, too. I’ve taken care to set up the room as best I can, but there is one medium siced window. It doesn’t feel like it reflects a lot but perhaps that is the issue? Idk.

I have the tracking issue everywhere, from Steam Home to several games that I’ve tried.
It does seem that as long as I don’t move my head much, it seems to be alright. And sometimes I can play for several minutes without any issue.

If anyone’s got any suggestions, I’m happy to hear em

Oh, full disclosure, got a 5K+ with 2x Lighthouse 2.0
specs:
i9-9900K, RTX 2080ti, 32GB DDR4-3200 ram
Pitool v 180 and headset firmware is v2.1.255.212 (latest ?)

Why not just try to cover it up with a piece of cardboard or something and You’ll know for sure?

Might also be other shiny surfaces.

You can also try different USB ports.

Might even be the ceiling as the surface seems reflective…:crossed_fingers:

It Has to be USB conflicts.

Today I have rearranged my USB connections and the same problem
was appeared.
After I have arranged back them and the issue has gone.
I realized that the Pimax USB has to be alone in row, so try to unplug
all USB devices from that group of sockets of your PIMAX’s usb plug
on your motherboard!

Another possibility is to use an USB HUB. If you don’t have enough USB slots
to do that, try to use USB HUB. But in this way You have to use active HUBs, means
the hubs has to be their own power adapters to get stable 5 volts.
When I was using them, the issue also has gone!

Good Luck!
