The Pitool download from the official web page now identifies my Pimax 5K+ as an oculus and then refuses to work and closes its self
How strange. I suggest you contact Pimax support by submitting a “ticket” (if you haven’t done that yet): Support : Pimax Support

What a weird way to find out Facebook just bought Pimax.

We suggest you to file a ticket at our support. We never met this issue before, and it was kinda weird, that the headset is identify as Oculus.
Maybe you could provide us some screenshot and we will escalate to the relevant team.
