Thanks for your detailed response . I guess I will have to give the Pimax a try soon .
I have used Samsung S5 with Homido headset and can confirm it is same as Oculus Rift .
I have spent too much money experimenting with this . The Oculus and gaming machine was definitely not worth it but at least I can play some games with it .
So just to clarify , there is an improvement in sharpness and detail ? Not just SDE improvement but also detail and for more distant objects ?
Will the Pimax 8K use the HDMI 2.0 for 4K input ?
P.S. For awhile I thought Samsung S8 will be 4K but now I am reading no , not sure if that is definitely no . But I think the Sony Xperia Z7 will definitely be 4K , supposed to come out same time as Samsung . But like you say you still need 8K video , otherwise the video is being down-scaled . In any case , the Pimax would still be the cheapest option I think .
I donât know about sharpness and detail. But what I do know is that it looks WAY better than it did on my 1440p phone + Android cardboard. Itâs still not perfect though, I think that it will look much better when they start releasing 8k movies. Also the LCD screen used is not as good as an OLED screen, youâll see slight ghosting and the colours are a bit dull.
But still, I think itâs currently just the best out there.
Another (french) review with positive feedback.
But no information about positional tracking (are the lightbox-like base station and controllers working?)
I would have to say that the two HDMI ports is not going to work for me . I hope you get the DP ports working .
You get it all working and I am a buyer .
I bought a GTX with 2 HDMI. Gives more flexibility for different monitor and headset configs. I would recommend doing the same if you upgrade or havenât bought one yet.
