So, in a couple of years we get an rgb screen or something better… is it possible to switch it out the screen yourself later…as an upgrade?.. isn’t that the purpose of modular design?
It’ll cost money but better than upgrading to a brand new system.
Other upgrade would be lense…pop lense out and use matching algorithm?
The current design while modular; screen swapping would be very difficult judging by @Sjef teardown. He dismantled to a point where he didn’t want risk it further due to fine ribbon cables risk of damage. 
So current pimax headsets would be best to be upgraded in factory if offered.
