I’m shopping for a new laptop to use with my 8k when it comes. I can’t seem to find a laptop that supports DP1.4, only mDP which is DP1.2.
@deletedpimaxrep1, @Matthew.Xu, @Pimax-Support What model of Gaming Laptop does Pimax recommend for the 8k? It seems like DP1.4 is not available on laptops, Only DP1.2. Is the Pimax 8k DP1.2 compatible? Is there a way to convert the 8k for HDMI?

Don’t know how much you’re willing to spend, the first laptop I’ve looked for is the Acer Predator 21x and it does have a full size DisplayPort 1.4, which the Pimax 8k requires to work correctly.

Hi, usually we preferentially recommend desktop for Pimax 8K. We’re also testing the signal of using converter/adapter internally now.

The specs say it has Mini DisplayPort 1.3x2. Would that work with the Pimax 8K?
You could always use a laptop or notebook with a eGPU (external GPU). Be sure to purchase one with Thunderbolt giving full speed over the Thunderbolt port. Also be sure to have at minimum an i7 HQ other CPU options would be the i7 HK or the i7K. The i7U is a crippled mobile CPU designed more for battery life than processing.
