Purchased the 8KX after being blown away at CES

Thanks, ok so as in this Image:

Yes, it should be clearer as long as the 8KX is in native (non-scaled) mode. As for SDE, they both use the same panels, so that will be the same. In scaled mode, they should look identical.

So looking at that table, is the only hz mode that the 8KX in native mode supports 75hz? No chance to drop that down to 72 / 64hz like the other models? I can understand not going higher, but will PiTool allow it to lock natively to 64hz? Would help with achieving stable performance and keeping image higher.

I would imagine so. The community will ask for it and the developers will deliver. This is one of the strengths of the Pimax devs. They can achieve a lot.

Are you working to push till 120hz 8K+ or 8KX?

Hello Marco,

We are working on the 8KX model.

Pimax has made no commitments as to the other refresh rates. They are trying to raise it to 80 Hz. It’s likely that they will offer 72 Hz and maybe 64 Hz.

72 and 64Hz on 8KX should be no problem, but it has not yet been added in our latest internal PiTool version. Maybe even 60Hz, which we had in an early prototype I tested.

Another noob question. The 8KX has the native mode, and then the upscale mode. Is that upscale mode effectively the 8K+ mode? Or is the 8K+ mode something else again? That switch that the 8KX has, is that an 8KX / 8K+ switch? If so, what’s the button in PiTool that SweViver showed in the cable extension video? Where he shows the cable working in native mode. There was another mode you could select from that option.

Think to scaler mode of Pimax 8K X as a Pimax 8K ++

Engineers are working for a 120 hz mode on Pimax 8K X

Instead Pimax 8K plus will be 110 hz

The 8kX has benefits of Special Cable and likely dual bridged bridge chips giving more muscle vs 8k+ with a single bridge chip and regular cable.

What muscle? What could it do better?

Dual bridge chips means for example a bump in refresh in upscale mode as it is using 2 chips instead of limited by a single chip specs.

Much like 1 GPU vs 2 in a MGPU config.

Higher quality special cable also increases potential stability in signal transmission.

I see. Have no idea what these chips are capable of, let alone what interesting extra things a combination of two could do.

Good to know some extra jazz is possible with my purchase. Boy I really can’t wait. Though I am already expecting a delay after April and I bought some cheap Chinese lube just in case.

You bought what now  cheap Chinese lube just in case of delay

No not just in case of a delay. That doesn’t even require lube anymore, but many more surprises could still arise and come at me hard just when I was expecting a smooth delivery
