HAGS - Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling, a feature of latest Windows 10 build 2004 and latest Nvidia drivers
I have found 262 to give a huge performance boost in DCS. 20fps more on average. GPU utilisation is way up in the 90s now and it is running much better. It’s like a gpu upgrade without the cost, very happy!!
This is the results in the CPU heavy benchmark mission (su25 lowlevel). GPU frametimes have shifted lower, CPU/GPU use is up.
FPS went from 43 to 67!
(7700K@5.1, no HT, 1080Ti)
Was this boost you are seeing from .253?? As I have stayed on that because of the framerate hit of .260
No, I came from 197, old version. I tried more recent piTools up to about 253 I think, from time to time, but it was always a significant fps drop. So always went back to 197.
But 262 is running well. Have done several missions in DCS of about 2 hours, no problems. I’m getting a ridiculous 70% more fps in most situations. That is just nuts.
I know DCS is not very well optimised, but it was piTool holding us back all this time. Thankyou Pimax for finally sorting this out.
I found 253 had the best performance (254 was best but had memory leak fail) for DCS. I am currently getting very good framerates even on public servers and have spent allot of time with settings and optimizing my system. I found it was better for me than 197.
Sidekick1, your fps looks very good but still only 80% gpu usage. You could get even more if you try 262? My gpu is usage 95% now. GL!
I believe that is because I am running a 2080Ti OC and the bottle neck is not my GPU, but my CPU. My system is a i9-KS running at 5.2 and have never seen more than 85% GPU with DCS and I believe that the pipeline to the GPU needs to be increased to up the GPU usage at this point. I guess it would not be too much trouble to revert but looking for others and their results this time. Thanks!
If I tried it , and wanted to revert would I have to re-install different firmware to get back to .253?
Thanks!
Ok I got up the courage to try 262 as I have worked hard to makes things stable. First impression is WoW !!! A 10 FPS boost with less GPU! I am at standard 2600x2120 each eye in Normal FOV and I am so far impressed. I will now start to mess with DCS settings as I had Shadows turned off (I prefer FR to shadows).
Thanks!
Hmmmmm …90 FPS on the ramp … well, my 7700k @ 5GhHz are to slow…
Is it only me or the new backlight option is only working for 90hz and not 120hz
Well - I loaded a heavy mission with allot going on to test and still a very good framerate with my 2080Ti bumping along at 92% usage!
What is the proper firmware version for my k5 plus serial 203…? with this .262?
so when I updated from .253 to .262 (very happy with the results) I noticed there was no firmware update at the same time. Now I see the red dot asking me to update my firmware (s 203) but I use it 90% of the time for DCS so I am a bit gun shy to update the firmware. Is there a good reason to at this point? I would hate to hurt the framerate I am getting.
Thanks!
