Good to hear that you’re already on that track, and yes, it’s still a long way to go since as of yet rift and vive + lack of eye/hand tracking are not satisfactory for those cases. Until then imagination is all we have but can settle ground and provide to work with tech that’s soon around the corner. May work with phobias already though, have read some stuff about it (height, spiders) but reliable results on successrate are still pending. I think that 4k Euro are a steal for a device bringing a well tested treatment method to people that had no chance to undergo those established methods because of their disabilities.
@Jim pls do a video if you can, I’m curious as hell
Perhaps you could work with Pimax on a grant, for the equipment. It seems to me that there are some serious PR opportunities here.
You know as i said earlier, I work in a studio full time and this all started because my eyes were kinda messing with me. I work sometimes way to many hours and I’m not one to take breaks. I don’t even consistently do lunch which is not good I know I’m just one of those people who I guess obsess with my work and kind of just over does it. And it all started with this crazy idea of working in vr because its actually cheaper than buying a huge video monitor. And lets face it if your going to buy a new video monitor it has to be a big one why even do it right? So I started with mixed reality wasn’t knowledgeable about Oculus or HTC Vive at that point at all I just did it because of the price and I already had Windows 10 and windows mixed reality comes free with it no brainer for me don’t get me wrong I love technology and was excited about the VR part and I love games but honestly what I do is very important for me in the studio I’m in a family saying group I write the songs record the songs mix some master room and so forth so it’s my life but what I didn’t expect was it when I started to tap into end game overlays in other words mixing my songs and working in my daw in these beautiful VR worlds with so extremely therapeutic that it blew me away it was like working in any world on any planet above ground or under the sea that I wanted to it was fantastic to be working and yet here Birds whistling and flying by and butterflies in the air you talk about therapeutic for me it was actually life changing my job wasn’t stressful like I said I love it but now it is such a therapeutic amazing calming experience that I understand what you’re talking about and using it in different situations to help people I think with this new pimax we’re finally at a place where you can change a person’s life in VR and I really need that since the field of view is 220 degrees and they’re going to be immersed in a 200 degree world it’s going to seem so realistic I can’t wait to get my hands on this and yes I will make some videos a lot of the stuff I’m talking about I’m still working on though but I’ll make some videos as soon as I can get it together a little bit more I’m still trying to iron out some of these problems with the model instruments they look extremely amazing just like the real thing maybe even better because the lighting of these models is so perfect and so forth I’m just struggling to get it to flow properly with my midi and to be quite frank I’m not a huge computer guy I mean by that I only have so much knowledge when it comes to programming this stuff but I have a guy helping me who is very good that code and so forth and we’re really trying to make this work I’m wanting to Overlay my instruments also soin another words I can be on a mountain have my piano on the mountain have my drums on the mountain and see my daw on the mountain but still be totally and a in-game overlay in other words I don’t want to see walls I’ve seen enough walls I want to see deers walking by when I’m mixing I want to be on the Move mixing and watch Stars falling all around me know what I mean. Cool stuff love it
Stupid voice recognition sorry I’m too impatient to type you got imagination maybe you can figure out what I’m saying LOL
I’ve hit that part of my day when staring at a wall of text just discourages me from reading it.
Can I get the TL;DR?
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/speakit/pgeolalilifpodheeocdmbhehgnkkbak it totally works great for tl;dr scenarios… just highlight and listen! lol
You changed the subject on us bro lol. I can’t get that video to play anyways says copyright infringement
Here; I’ve dewallified it…
[quote=“Jim, post:24, topic:6917, full:true”]You know as i said earlier, I work in a studio full time and this all started because my eyes were kinda messing with me. I work sometimes way to many hours and I’m not one to take breaks. I don’t even consistently do lunch (which is not good, I know) I’m just one of those people who I guess obsess with my work and kind of just overdoes it.
And it all started with this crazy idea of working in vr because its actually cheaper than buying a huge video monitor. And lets face it if your going to buy a new video monitor it has to be a big one why even do it right?
So I started with mixed reality wasn’t knowledgeable about Oculus or HTC Vive at that point at all. I just did it because of the price and I already had Windows 10 and windows mixed reality comes free with it. No brainer for me. Don’t get me wrong I love technology and was excited about the VR part and I love games, but honestly what I do is very important for me in the studio.
I’m in a family saying [singing?] group. I write the songs, record the songs, mix some master room, and so forth, so it’s my life, but what I didn’t expect […] when I started to tap into [in-]game overlays (in other words mixing my songs and working in my daw) in these beautiful VR worlds [was] so extremely therapeutic that it blew me away. It was like working in any world, on [a] planet above ground or under the sea, that I wanted [too]. It was fantastic to be working and yet [there are] birds whistling and flying by and butterflies in the air. You talk about therapeutic for me.
It was actually life changing. My job wasn’t stressful, like I said. I love it, but now it is such a therapeutic amazing calming experience, that I understand what you’re talking about and using it in different situations to help people.
I think with this new pimax, we’re finally at a place where you can change a person’s life in VR and I really need that, since the field of view is 220 degrees and they’re going to be immersed in a 200 degree world. It’s going to seem so realistic, I can’t wait to get my hands on this and yes I will make some videos. A lot of the stuff I’m talking about, I’m still working on, though, but I’ll make some videos, as soon as I can get it together a little bit more.
I’m still trying to iron out some of these problems with the model instruments. They look extremely amazing, just like the real thing, maybe even better, because the lighting of these models is so perfect and so forth. I’m just struggling to get it to flow properly with my midi (and to be quite frank I’m not a huge computer guy). I mean by that, I only have so much knowledge when it comes to programming this stuff, but I have a guy helping me who is very good [at] code and so forth and we’re really trying to make this work.
I’m wanting to Overlay my instruments also. So in another words, I can be on a mountain have my piano on the mountain, have my drums on the mountain, and see my daw on the mountain, but still be totally [in an] in-game overlay. In other words, I don’t want to see walls; I’ve seen enough walls. I want to see deer walking by, when I’m mixing. I want to be on the Move mixing and watch Stars falling all around me. Know what I mean?
Cool stuff; love it![/quote]
TL;DR I want a music studio in VR. It’s therapeutic to see mountains, birds, and deer, instead of walls. I can’t wait to get my hands on my Pimax 8K; it’s going to seem so realistic. There are still some problems, but I have a computer guy helping me. It will be cool.
You’re making me jealous. I want to work in a recording studio in vr now. Pity my hearing isn’t as acute as it once was.
