Over last 3 or 4 mounths i have struggled with wifi problems…
Some days ago i finaly found out what was the cause…
If piplay is running on background or on desktop, then wifi drops in every some seconds ago…
I recorded a video 1mounth ago to get help in tplink hardware forums, what i didnt get, coz no1 didnt understand whats wrong or whats causing this
at first i thought it was my windows error, so i reinstalled fresh one … Ofcorse right away i didnt install pimax software, so i thought iam thought that problem, after some time i got same problem, then i thought my usb holes or drivers were corrupted, restarted like insane every wifi driver i could find, switched ports… Everytime the wifi went good again, i didnt understand totaly why… Last time when it started again i was already desprate, went to tplink forums, and asked help… didnt get one, i thought my archer t4a wifi stick is broken or something… So i bought whole new computer total worth over 2k with intregrated wifi… and now after installing piplay, i saw that problem again, and finaly i figuered that piplay is all the cause of that!!!.
Why i cant run piplay without wifi connection drops?
I have i7 8700k, 1080ti, ac standard intregrated wifi card, tplink 1200 router and norton 360 virus protection what dont tell anything bad about piplay, like its virus or something
Sorry for bad english, its not my native language, iam estonian.
Hi,could you please tell us which version of Piplay you use? Please go to Help Page of Piplay and then export logs to support@pimaxvr.com, it will be better for our further estimate.Thank you!
I know it started with version 2… i have only downloaded latest versions. It depends what version was available at the time i struggled with that problem. Yesterday when i tested before posting i had the latest version… I know many other programs had issues with windows 10 fall update, but this wasnt in this case, it was before also. The drop is so big, if i play game online then totaly disconnects for half of second. If i put direcly cable from router, then drops disappear and everything is ok.
Iam 100% sure it happens with 5ghz ac/n speeds, 80% sure it affects 2,4ghz speeds also.
Have you considered that as this has been happening on your old and now a brand new PC and no-one else on these forums have seen this that there is another point of failure other than the drivers? Maybe your router might be causing the drops?
I have already ruled that out also…
Bought a new generation router
NOTE: if i do speedtest same time with mobile phone, then there is everything ok.
Now when i know what causes it, its so easy to test it. Everything ok, open piplay wifi struggles, close piplay everything back to normal.
Dunno why iam the first one to write here? Maybe every1 uses wired connections on theire high end vr pc’s, i was confused myself also, why no1 havnt written it here.
