I saw the same thing as you.

I don’t know what’s wrong, but I think that PE can be started by completely erasing
the pimax software and config settings and reinstalling.

Only uninstalling the pimax software doesn’t seem to solve it.
The following folders also had to be deleted.
Of course, the settings will also disappear

“C:\Program Files\Pimax”
“C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\PiTool”
“C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Pimax”
“C:\Users\yourname\AppData\LocalLow\Pimax”
“C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\PiTool”
“C:\ProgramData\pimax”

It’s a rough method, so I think it’s far from investigating the cause.

Hi guys, Im sorry I havent got back to you. Im currently trying to find the cause of this issue. Seems to be quite an uncommon issue and we never saw this during Closed Beta, but its definitely related to PiTiool as it seems Pimax VR Experience doesnt get rights to create a user settings JSON config file (in some cases), so nothing gets initiated.

Good at least that a total re-install seems to solve it, thanks.

We gotta fix this somehow!

Its now working, but i need to keep the "start pimax VR home " checked.

The work around has worked for me, accept in need to keep the "start Pimax VR Home box checked " as if i uncheck it, i get that white PI logo with a dark black background with stars and nothing works, not the colourful one that represents a universe.

Yes thats because the universe is replaced with Pimax VR Experience.
The Logo shows when nothing is running.
To use Pimax VR Experience, you NEED to have the checkbox checked :slight_smile:

Same… I just get the space background, a blue laser pointer line stuck in the sky, I can see my index controllers, and a message telling me to click the theumbsticks to centre my view. Nothing else happens? tried uninstalling, deleting appdata directories, same outcome.

Don’t know if it’s relevant but I also have unity installed.

Hey @SweViver - can you give us sim-racing/flight fans a way to use the PE as a regular windowed app/menu, instead of mirrored from the headset?

Most sim racers don’t use the controllers much.

It’s so much nicer having this Pimax Experience. One thing I’d love to see is an ALL category that displays games from Oculus, Revive, Imported, and SteamVR all in one. Having a 100+ game library, it’s a pain to favorite each and every game to have them all in one category.

Hi, I have just installed 284 and PE and having some problems, any suggestions?

  1. Any links to a setup guide yet? Started watching Sweviver’s new YT video but not seen a setup guide anywhere Pimax VR Experience - YouTube
  2. PE running and visible in the 8KX
  3. PE FPS performance is bad, especially when switching between menu options such as Steam VR / Oculus / Advanced / Profiles etc - doing this will drop even further to single FPS figures for a period it seems. Restarting everything makes no improvement. PT / SVR performance is normal and working fine, it’s just in PE.
  4. All profiles show the same set of incorrect settings (Large FOV, 0.5 PTRQ, no FFR etc) which don’t match any of my actual profile settings. In addition, I can’t change any settings via any of the arrow < or > icons. Is it some read and write file permission issue? I’ve not had any issues with file permissions on PT or SVR before though. I can change things like Offset, and that works.

I have to be away for a bit but will test again later tonight.

Edit: 5. New one - just woke up my headset, and as soon that happened all my monitor brightness / contrast just got messed up :frowning: Never seen that before, will reboot, hope it’s temporary. I think there’s a hell of a lot of odd bugs still buried in this version unfortunately…

This looks very cool but will have to give it a miss for a few versions.

Caveat that i went from .263 directly to this, but doing so caused my eye tracking to fail to calibrate(no dots visible). I don’t know if this is to do with experience itself or new version of eye tracking runtime that comes with it. going back to 263 and associated tracking driver fixed it.

edit - looking at other reports there are at least a few people with this issue and it seems to be driver not PE

So far I love it. I can load any games with my headset on. UI is nice a big and easy to read. It would be nice to remove the right panel. Also tried to change to some on the hands and arms setting but all I get are the index controllers. I did change the laser to purple did that have something to do with it?

Ony my oculus games dont work,but that has to do with the latest firmware for the 8kx that i installed i think…
