it’s not impossible that Pimax succeed really well it it’s niche market of High FOV headsets. I could give the example of DJI that did exactly that in the drone market
Indeed proof that smaller companies can muscle in & that’s awesome in this day & age.
It’s not impossible. But the future of VR is really high tech, like that varifocal tech that Oculus has been working on. It’s not just slamming 2 higher res panels into a HMD. I do think that in the future only companies with deep (research) pockets can compete and that only 1-2 big companies survive, just like in the GPU industry.
Effectively but this example was only given to show that small Chinese’s cie like Pimax can make a name for themselves world wide. In this case, Pimax is in a much more competitive market with giants pouring abysmal amount of money into R&D mostly on AR but never the less.
But then oculus started with slamming 2 bad panels into a HMD and it was dreadful… everyone has to start somewhere
And then bought by Facebook, in the time line we are little further so less chance for this scenario but your right, It must begin somewhere…
Remember some photos that Valve tested their first ideas with headsets. Those were literaly 2 screens attached witch duct tape.
