Pimax Crystal Light Pro just arrived

Big thanks to Pimax for shipping a Crystal Light “Pro” test review unit for my forthcoming Skarredghost full review!

This has Dmas speakers and steamVR faceplate included :kissing_heart:

Had a quick look this morning, started after a quick firmware update, connection first time, all running great during quick session in Aircar.

Lenses look great, headset feels considerably lighter than my Crystal, first impression very positive.

More soon!

steamVR (lighthouse) faceplate :kissing_heart:

The glorious Dmas :headphones: and trying out the stock speakers (smas?) actually quite good on high volume in terms of directional audio

Huge thanks to Studioform Creative for sending a big selection of their excellent fitting and comfort products for the Crystal Light

Will give a full run down during the article for Skarredghost, planning to publish in time for Christmas vacation

Is that an optic cable? Much needed for PCL

It’s the stock copper DP tether that comes with the Crystal Light, very similar to the copper DP tether that came with my original Crystal (I also got the fibre optic tether for the original Crystal)

It’s a shame it’s not compatible with the Crystal Light as the fibre optic tether feels very liberating when using the headset for roomscale as it’s super thin/light and doesn’t drag or tug the headset. The extra length is very useful too.

Having great fun using the Crystal Light though!!

Did some mods to the face cushion, rear cushion and added the Studioform Creative Apache strap, big improvement in fitting , comfort, stability.

Crystal and Crystal Light :kissing_heart:

An update. Been spending a lot of time using the headset in Into the Radius 2 and Arizona Sunshine, Metro Awakening not so much…

Testing going very well after getting the fitting dialled with Studioform Creative products and some additional tweaks including a mod to the headset harness

Full reveal coming soon exclusively to Skarredghost…

This headset really is huge, it reminds me of the foto posted by Tatiana the other day

Another reason for me to wait what the Super will bring to the table, the 30% reduction in size is a substantial difference making it easier to accept that we will not get the small Beyond or MeganeX form factor from Pimax.

I’m always surprised when I see an external picture of me wearing the Crystal, just how big it looks!

it’s doesn’t feel as big when wearing, admittedly it’s heavier and has more inertia than my Index but the ergonomics are working much better now keeping it firmly in place without excessive pressure.

It feels like a plush helmet but the steamVR tracking, BMR sound and qled 35ppd visuals are outstanding so it’s very enjoyable to use

I have to ask, haven’t been in the Pimax HMD loop for a while:

What is a Crystal Light Pro? A Crystal Light with ET?
