You’re right, here it is: - YouTube

Damn, fresnel lenses, that’s disappointing ! Also no hardware IPD !?!?! @deletedpimaxrep1

@Sjef Lets start a confirmed list of specs here

This is the guy’s website: VR ¸Å´Ï¾Ç : ³×À̹ö Ä«Æä

He’s talking about LCD panel too, instead of OLED.

He does say that Pimax told him that the final version will have IPD adjustment. Man I hope so. Also hoping Pimax is going for OLED instead of LCD.

We should have got Crony to go check it out. Their main website confirms IPD adjust in the rendered images allthough dont know why they wouldnt be showing this in the latest prototype before kickstarter?

@deletedpimaxrep1 Is this your latest protype being demoed in Korea? OR do you have a newer prototype to show in Europe later this month?

Where do you see that can you link it please ?

On their non mobile friendly website

See the slider on the front. And click on the spining circles in the image

They also say it has stereo speakers

Ok really hoping Pimax is going to use hardware IPD, it’s at least for me a deal breaker, without hardware IPD I won’t buy it.

Fresnel … I hate fresnel because of the god rays, not sure why Pimax is using fresnel for the 8k but they’ll have their reasons I guess. I actually really liked the lenses in the Pimax 4k, I was hoping Pimax would build on that success instead going for Fresnel.

Same reason as Panasonics headset. You need seriously warped lenses to get 200 FOV

But pimax lenses are not ‘warped’ (I assume you mean curved ?). I’m not sure if curved lenses are a good idea while we can’t have curved display’s… Hopefully someone produces curved 4k OLED panels soon. BOE already showed us some awesome prototypes. I think curved display + curved lenses might actually be a very good combo for VR

Yeah @crony can’t you go check it out ? Would be awesome !

Srry wrong terminology. Yes I’ve always thought if they pressed screens into a slight dome shape with lenses to suit you could do away with the need for Fresnel lenses and alot of distortion. It might happen one day but Im sure someone will come up with a whole new concept better than screens and lenses before then lol

Just confirmed with Pimax though their Facebook page this is the final prototype before kickstater. Same model they are taking to Europe later this month

Its not the final prototype. the prototype for IFA will be improved and include IPD.

Ok thanks @deletedpimaxrep1 . Another person told me different

Could you please tell us if the final consumer product will have OLED?

I know you want to share with us

If it will have OLED please just answer with a smile face

Thanks!

I don’t have a confirmed answer yet

I already knew everything about the pimax 8K release and expected to meet the pimax 8k with complete preparation, but I had to cancel my plan to visit kitas 2017 because of the unexpected operation of my wife.:sob:
I am very sorry that I have not been able to give you experience information about the pimax 8K.
However, since members of the VR community in Korea are giving information about the experience, I can inform you a little bit.

Interview with ZDNET KOREA

Below is a Google Translator. Please pay attention to the wrong translation.

I wanted to get the right footage, but the smart phone camera did not get the focus right.

Current Advantages

  1. The angle of view is also a big hit.
I was worried that I could not cover the wide viewing angle properly and it would cause unnatural and eye fatigue.
  2. The image quality is excellent and the brightness is very good.
If you are interested in finding a grid, you will not be able to see it
  3. Despite lcd panel in head tracking, the refresh rate is increased up to 75, so it shows smooth transition without ghosting.
  4. Unlike what I was worried about, the headset was very light and the controller was too light to be half the weight of the vive.
  5. Contrary to what I was worried about, the quality of the controller and positional tracking was very good and I would like to give a higher score than vive personally. Even though the installed environment was poor and the base sensor was very close and roughly diagonal, it did not feel unnatural or bouncing.

Current Disadvantages

  1. If the distance between the lenses is wide and the distance between the two sides is narrow, the outer parts of the left and right lenses in the center may enter into the field of view and may be irregular. In the case of me, I was disgusted when I first wore it, but soon my eyes adjusted and my screen seemed to be full. The consumer version will suggest the addition of a tweaking feature. It is a must-have feature, so be sure to add it.
  2. The design is very coarse to the level of the mock-up. In the consumer version, we expect to be transformed into high-tech.
  3. There is very little content that is still running, including steamvr. At the time of consumer version release, it should be improved completely to be compatible with steamvr.
  4. When I try to cover a wide viewing angle, I have low magnification due to low magnification of lens. (It may feel different from person to person because of the big difference.)

Impact is less than I thought when I first wore.
Due to the lack of demonstration contents and lens magnification, I think that these two factors are the main reasons.
Nevertheless, there is no doubt that excellent image quality, fantastic viewing angles, smooth and good quality tracking and controller quality is a huge advantage.
I am sorry to have been able to give a strong impression to those who experience it more if I demonstrated the project cars today.

I was able to experience the racing game from Pimax 4k Pro by side, and I was impressed that the shortcomings of Pimax 4k now seem to be completely complementary. It was a short time, but I was able to immerse myself in racing.
