PIMAX 4K BE and 102xxxxx serials - new purchase. 2018

Hi, I recently bought a pimax 4k from ebay new from a chinese seller , but I only found out about the issue that some of these were 2K screens and not 4K, as its Jan 2018 now when I am buying , is this still a known problem?

I wish I knew about all these issues but it wasn’t clear at time when i bought it of the entire history of this item. Can anyone tell if I will receive a geniune 4K headset? or will it be a 2K hack (dudd) one? in which I will need to return it to china? I feel this is really BAD by western standards that such a thing can occur btw… and it is an example of why Oculus even at its early stages where very professional in releasing their equipment, I was one of the original backers of DK1 kickstarter and I felt that it was very professional, even to the packaging, was faultless, now Im trying Pimax and i read about all these issues…

Im feeling pretty bad now as I was hopeful with anticipation of getting this , and also found out after some research it will only support max 1440p due to HDMI1.4b support only.

Then what can I say of the 8K and 8K X, well I would now be very suspicious of claims which cannot be honoured.

Im from Melbourne Australia,

thanks

Hi, sorry for inconvenience. It seems this vendor doesn’t exist in our listing.

Please contact the seller directly and request her to confirm with support@pimaxvr.com if she refused to replace or refund, thank you.

I thought the screens are 2K on all 4K HMDs. The 4K is the screens combined along the horrizontal.

Someone correct/confirm this for me

The 4k(Uhd) has 1x38402160 custom lcd panel. The BE 2.5k (Qhd) has 1x25601440 oled panel.

For non 4K BE, 3840x2160 but only accepting 2560x1440, the HMD upscales it to 3840x2160.

can we buy with confidence from gearbest that we will get a true 4k screen. i dont want to receive ANOTHER 2k model.

If it could be usefull, I bought a pimax from gearbest one month ago and it’s a 4k screen version with 100 serial number. It’s the latest version with the white logo

Thanks for the response.

hi all, great news i got my pimax 4k today, the screen is 4K and its a 100xxx serial.

i bought it from ebay from a chinese seller/reseller

i compare the display with my sony xperia Z premium phone which is also a 4K display and its comparable.

have been playing around with it, by any chance does anyone know a tracking software that will support Pimax eg. Opentrack i used to use with Oculus Rift…

this is because i like to watch OpenRiftView movie player in extended (ie. video mode) on windows and when i use iwth the Pimax i lose the head-tracking making the software no usable… unless there is a headtracking software that can take over from Opentrack that support pimax?

thanks in advance
T.

Can you post a link to “OpenRiftView”?

hey mate dont worry im a newb to this as i skipped a generation after DK2, i found a few decent free video players on SteamVR …

anyway, but i would think you still wont have head tracking on video/extended mode if you use in windows , but that doesnt bother me no more… maybe guys using things like VorpX injectors to play games might…

just final note for my post… im very impressed and happy with the pimax 4K, it exceeded my expectations …the 4K UHD screen is a massive leap and games feel very real and you can watch videos with decent quality in definition and no screen door which does remove the ability to watch long HD 4K mp4’s movies imho…

looking forward to the 8K release, although i might wait till after the initial rush to get mine and aiming more at the 8K X… hope they figure out the HDMI issues so we can get full native 4K stuff going… either way, great work and product here all around, pimax is doing a real good job with making the 4K and 8K sets…

thanks
