Occasional stutter/judder issue finally solved by Pimax!

@SweViver Could you please tell pimax engineers to add a toggle in pittol to turn off the led on the pimax device? I think many would agree with me on it and it’s quite easy to do .
Cheers

@SweViver also please mention that they add a mic boost option!

mic boost option should be available in windows audio/record settings.

@SweViver while were at the framrate topic, do the engeeniers have any new idea about 8KX with 80Hz ?

It seems this issue is caused by insufficient rights in Windows for Pitool to store all changes in the common settings.json file. On some windows installs with maximum UAC security enabled, it prevents PiTool to save settings. This means the common settings file is simply not saved in the folder:
c:/users/user/appdata/Roaming/Pitool/manifest/PiTool/

Have a look if you even have a file like that. If you dont see it, you better do some adjustments in the UAC - or reinstall PiTool with Administrator rights , start it, save settings and check if the common settings.json file is there now. This should prevent settings to be forgotten.

Do you mean the front chevron led light, or the small led light next to power button?

For mic boost, better just use a software like Voicemeeter (preferably Voicemeeter Banana edition) You can boost the mic, headphones etc to crazy levels. Voicemeeter is a must, I think, so much ways to improve the sound and have control over the inputs/outputs. Its also free

Hey thanks man for the continuous improvements and constant high energy you put in, skål / na zdrowie to you! :star_struck:

I have a different problem Voicemeeter might fix. If so, I’ll d/l it. Can you adjust left-right balance of headphones? Windows used to have a setting for it, but Win10 does not.

Why? I’m nearly deaf in one ear.

[update] Never mind. I down loaded it and it does let me do what I need, using the
Virtual Input > Left/Right balance.

This is a huge improvement in my enjoyment of my PC (not just games)! Thanks for the tip, SweViver!

The front Chevron. Its extremely annoying when you have other people in the room and you have a blinking light going off constantly.

Yes. I don’t mind the light so much, but you’re right, the blinking is annoying.

Thanks for the hard work Sweviver and the team, for me the Chevron color adjustment isn’t working on the 8k+ is this a pitool problem?

Especially when your guests start yelling “Gort Klaatu barada nikto” at you.

LOL! The first time I saw that movie was part of a classroom experiment, in middle high school. Our teachers told us that aliens had visited the US and that The Day the Earth Stood Still was a historical film! There was discussion afterwards, to see who actually believed it was historically accurate.

I have it in my library. It and Forbidden Planet inspired Spielberg as a kid. Me too.

Hi SweViver, for clarification. When you say the studder judder…is that also refering to when looking at the cockpit panels in DCS…that it will stop that judder too? If so, great news. If not…I’m still going to have issues.

I have a pretty powerful machine I think…i9 9900EX OC @ 4.8Ghz, 32 GB DDR4 Ram, 2080ti watercooled vid card,
I am so confused on what i need to do to get DCS running good on my system.

Folks say run it from Pimax, others say use SS on Stream, otheres say set 1 on Pimax, 100%SS on Stream and use PD on DCS.

I have used the lowest settings…use VR baseline in DCS, Set Steam SS to be as close to native on Pimax 5K+, and use 1 on he PiTool. Still, when in the cockpit, I see a lot of judder moment when looking around, I rolkled back to 2.5…5 on DCS no help. I am using tyhe latest PiTool and FW.

I have an 8KX on order, but I feel if I can’t even get the 5K+ to work with my system, what hope do I have for the 8KX! What is a good starting point in DCS for the 5K+

What refresh rate should i start oiut with in Pitool. I have a widescreen 144mhz monitor running at 2560x1080 native.

I just want to be able to experience DCS as others have as well as you too SweViver. Any help, would be greatly appreciated. I have read so much, watch many vids…nothing seems to work very well when trying all these things. Oh yeah, my StreamVR is the .17 beta version.

Thanks for any help.
David

The 8KX is not necessarily more demanding than an 5K+, because it doesn’t need high levels of super-sampling to look good. You can enjoy it at your current settings and it should still look better than the 5K+.

Unfortunately DCS is nearly a worst-case-scenario for VR, due to the older program’s architecture. (It was not designed with multithreading in mind.) I think you will need to carefully tweak your settings to get adequate performance. Unfortunately, I don’t play DCS, so I can’t give you specific advice on those settings.

Be aware that this program introduces audio latency that might matter to you if you use certain kinds of music applications.

@SweViver UAC is disabled by me so that that can’t be the reason for this problem. Anyway I never use 120Hz at the moment so the headset switches itself when booting although the last used was 90Hz.

indeed, thats why a simple mic boost option in pitool is a must.

Alot off windows 10 machines dont have this option anymore…

The mic in the pimax headsets are to low in volume.
There are people complaining that they dont hear you enough…

@SweViver thx for the tip,but a native solution is far better
