This Beta can apparently Brick your card.

One solution to protect yourself is probably to just enable VSYNC. That way the card isn’t allowed to just run wild.
Very popular beta BTW - 200,000 concurrent players in a beta test is really something.

That may help. But it is more alarming that these cards do not have protections built into the hardware or Firmware to shutdown. Smartphones and Motherboards often have these kinds of protection. This is quite disappointing.
EDiT: from reading @3D_FAN sounds like maybe a non reference design change if so this is good news in a way for non Evga card owners. Though would maybe avoid this game beta at the very least. Unless one has paid for a bullet proof warranty.

It sights mainly evga cards so far(which is so far a good thing sort of). I would avoid this game until it is out of beta.
How this bug ever got past the alpha in this game is beyond me.
Also though, Nvidia needs higher standards for AIB’s or lower prices generally. Some people are paying 2000 dollars for one of these cards, and running flat out damages key components?
The card should shut itself down in such a scenario.

Yup it should be nearly impossible to kill a card with software. EVGA messed up big time.

Quite unbelievable indeed.
Its even crazier because guys like Gamers Nexus purposely run Cinebench and stuff to purposely stress test the cards, not to mention Miners.
But one MMO fries it. lol

according to JayzTwoCents he’s getting reports about other cards, both amd and nvidia getting bricked. not just 3090 (not seen the video, just people talking about it and it being referenced in some media)

Found this Article. Frame capping as @PimaxUSA said seems to be in part a fix so using vsync is definitely great advice. Amazon Games has released an update capping fps.

so, it is a mixed bag, hardware issues on EVGA side and generic software issues affecting other cards.
It is not one fault, but different issues, triggered by the beta game and otherts like Anno.
