Nolo Support thread

As the NOLO info is scattered around the forum I figured to make a thread to discuss Nolo and exchange info.

Some info I found myself for setup (here from other users and on the Nolo forum)

  1. The USB cable with 3 connectors is just for charging, you don’t need it while playing
  2. The long cable that are actually 2 cables: you only need to connect 1 of them (to the headset marker). The other is not needed.
  3. How to pair Nolo, watch this video: NOLO Instructions: How to Pair NOLO - YouTube
  4. After room setup is done, a double click on the power button while pointing at your screen (re)calibrates the direction of your controllers
  5. Single click on power button = Steam menu
  6. Double click menu button = 180 degrees flip

Questions I have myself:

  1. What do after drift ? I found that after a while I’ve drifted out of my room space, what to do ?!? I’m also drifting lower it seems.
  2. How long does it take to charge ? I assume lights go green after a while ? edit yes lights go green when full
  3. How do I even turn the controllers off ? (Long) pressing the power buttons on the controllers doen’t do it.

My first impressions btw: I’m impressed by the accuracy of the tracking ! My controllers are actually very steady and I can really precisely aim. Both which where just HORRIBLE with my psmove setup. So that’s great. Downsides I found so far is that the weight of the headset marker is actually just beyond comfortable to me. The pimax itsel already isn’t too comfortable, the extra weight makes it even less comfortable. And the drift issue was disappointing too

I ordered my NOLO on the 7th June. They said they would ship on the 24th June. Almost a month later nothing.

Emailed 4 times got another generic response today.

I’ll probably sell my Nolo and treat it as a loss. If it even gets to me.

Why do you want to sell it ? I actually like it. I think the drift is actually due to Piplay using the Pimax for gyro data instead of the Nolo. I think once they fix that the drifting might be gone.

Apart from that I really like the nolo, tracking is very accurate

I think I’m just burned out at this point. If there’s any indication my Nolo will probably come next month soonest.

I’ll probably try to get a full refund of the BE then go fund the Kickstarter for the 8K.

If the Nolo arrived a week before and I got the right headset as planned I’d probably keep everything and be a happy camper.

Wait more than 1 month for my Nolo to get to me. From ship date.

Wait for the shipping to Gearbest. Wait for Gearbest to ship me another Pimax and hope they don’t send another wrong one.

I don’t think I can handle anymore.

I’ve written 10 emails and opened 5 tickets on Gearbest.

Somewhere along the line you have to say fate does not want things to happen.

@Sjef

I do hope things work well for you though.

My NOLO came 2 days ago, but I cant seem to get the controllers to act right when paired with my pimax. I’ve tried all positions of mounting the base station. I cant even complete roomscale setup. It does appear at first while I’m tracing my room that they are going to work, but soon after they just flake out and go all over the place. Steam seems to never recovers from this and keeps my controllers in one spot while it continues to track the rotation of them. It stays this way until I restart steam VR. Am I missing something here? I’ve tried the latest drivers as well as the drivers on the NOLO website.

I don’t have NoloVR. But i am sure you need to unload the NoloVR driver. The Piplay has a Nolo drvr built in.

Latest Piplay is 1.2.9x

@PIMAX-Support so what happened with the idea of using the Nolo for Gyro data instead of the Pimax ? Wouldn’t that solve the drift ?

Really hoped that the drifting would be greatly reduced.

Is this just not possible because the NoloVR needs external gyroscope data?

Everytime we would mention this concern no one would clarify, well, now we know…

My NoloVR has never even been opened because, frankly, I have no use for it at this time.

Well from what @Sjef said. Check ypur enviroment & try to eliminate possible sources of magnetic interference ie unsheilded speakers.

Good idea. We are integrating Nolo’s data with Gyro data of Pimax and also testing the further Piplay version now. Just let you guys know that we’re stay on track

@ PIMAX-Support
Update piplay moved to the next week?

Can the NoloVR function as an standalone head tracker without VR?

I don’t know how to solve this but my controllers are basically 90 degrees to my right and not at my hand position.

Edit. I think it’s either the pairing got fked up or something. Double clicking O seems to work sometimes.

The problem is that there seems to be a little latency and when I move my head it starts to shake a bit.

Hi Generic,

I have moved your message to the Nolo Support thread. Please use search before creating new topics.

Thanks

Hmm:

Just looking at the logo. Isn’t that the Pimax BE with Nolo?

The description indicates the 4K Edition.

nolo vr is on store just now?

Is it possible to use the Pimax 4k without Piplay? It seems like people using their phones with Nolo are getting better results than those of us with the Pimax.

Any news about support of Nolo driver V. 0.11.0 in Piplay?
