Reading between the lines, they can’t do this as they haven’t finalized any/enough of the information yet. There doesn’t appear to be enough concrete information for them to release.

Good to have some info, just worry that whenever pimax gives a date they break it, which makes me worried that when we preorder these new headsets that they won’t arrive before christmas.

The secret is in the details! At least we have a date. They have a lot to iron out. I bet “the price” isn’t even set in stone at this point. I’m thinking Kevins input is going to be a deciding factor on many points.
I agree that a “no later than” date is better than no date.
What I find problematic is “Pre-Order” being in the banner title.
In no way am I giving Pimax any money, without an explicit understanding of the shipping date. This would be the proverbial “Fool me once…” scenario.
There needs to be a firm commitment in the live stream that the unit will be shipped within 24 hours of my credit card being charged.

I would not mind the new theme if they left “dark” theme alone. I have apparently an allergy to this “greenish” one, and won’t be able to suffer it for long

Then it wouldn’t be a pre-order. I definitely wouldn’t pre-order anything if you don’t want to take a chance on having to wait. With Pimax’s track record for over-promising on dates I would just wait until it has been officially released if having to wait is a concern.
The definition of Preorder is RISK but you get the first units shipped.
Personally already an X backer so I’m waiting to ship my loaner back.

We already know that’s not going to happen, they’ve given us the date the first 8KX units ship to backers, with retail buyers coming later, that’s December 18. And the 8K+ was originally announced for the end of October for the very first units. If you want a guaranteed shipment within 24 hours, then wait until January before you order…
Actually wait til January if you Preordered then if you order in January and they still have stock. You’ll have to wait til after Chinese New Year.

I’m fine with giving a credit card number to validate the pre-order, just don’t charge it until the unit is about to be shipped.
I’m also fine with waiting until January+ for a direct shipment. But if backer discounts are contingent on a pre-order, then that’s a no-go.

Ouch! That’s a terrible thought. It better not be.
I’ve had a bunch of unexpected expenses this year (tree fell and hit the house, major car repairs, etc.) so I will probably have to wait a while before I upgrade to an 8KX.
