Kodi - I can only see my desktop

Hi

I’m using the latest PiPlay. If I run Kodi with PiPlay in Video Mode, I can see Kodi on my Monitor (and it is playing a YouTube video - 360 Elephants), but all I can see through my Pimax 4K is my desktop wallpaper.

Any ideas? Thanks :slight_smile:

Shrink kodi and drag kodi to the right. 3xpand kodi full screen

Sorry, I’m not sure what you mean. Kodi is full screen on my Windows 10 machine. How do I shrink it?

Try alt+enter this should bring kodi out of fullscreen n have it windowed. Then drag the window to the right offscreen (should show up in hmd) then alt enter again to fullscreen kodi.

Alternatively there is a key combination to move program from one display over…

Have to look it up but think it might be alt shift right arrow… But i might have combo wrong.

Hey myself i am not having trouble with Kodi.

monkey is.

I used it awhile back using piplay’s link. The only trouble i had initially is it didn’t open in vr mode. I just closed 1 eye an clicked on the vr icon in the play bar.

Cool good advice though i should have asked how he opened kodi & weather it was the kodi that was packaged with piplay or installed independently.

Hi thanks for the replies and sorry for my slow response. I just installed a new version of kodi which I downloaded from their site. I didn’t realise Piplay came with its own version actually. I’m not at my computer yet but I will be soon so I will try a few things when I get to it and post back.

I guess my main question is which mode Pimax hmd should be in before I start kodi? I’m currently using version 1.1.9(?) (the one that people say its most stable), sorry not sure the exact version number, but it would be useful to know for the latest version too 1.2.57(?), since I have been trying both.

In 1.1.92 in Extend Mode

In 1.2.5x Video Mode.

Alternatively check out this player in steam as it will have better vr support.

Thanks for the tip about dragging Kodi to the right, it didn’t occur to me that the HMD was treated as a second monitor like that.

I could see the Kodi window in my HMD after doing that. Wasn’t in 3D but at least I can start experimenting too. I’ve installed Vive Video too - thanks. Will have a play around with that as well (seems to be just flying off into space when I load it - I can see there’s some kind of 3D movie theatre there but it’s hurtling off into the distance! I’ll experiment tonight though).

Your welcome. If your playing a video in kodi move your mouse to bring up play bar close your left eye and you should see VR. Click on it and kodi shld now be in vr mode.

In Video/extend mode PiMax is seen as a 2nd monitor and you can adjust video settings.

In pimax mode aka direct mode the headset is acessed directly and will not show up as a display.
