Is there a Pimax 8v vs HTC Vive Pro head to head review?

I would love to see how both match up.

I love the Primax 8k because of the higher scaled up resolution. But I dislike that it’s scaled up from a lower resolution than the Vive Pro (2560 x 1440 vs 2880 x 1600). The Vive Pro will actually display more information than the Pimax 8k.

I love the increased FoV, but I dislike that the 8k has to resort to shenanigans to fit the entire 200 degrees FoV. I don’t blame Pimax for this, actually. SteamVR and game developers should have designed for varying FoV’s and resolutions.

I love that Pimax is the vanguard when it comes to VR. If the 8k lives up to its promise it will set the standard for VR. But that also comes with a price. Being on the vanguard the 8k’s complexity and fallibility increases exponentially.

So I would love to see a head to head review of both the strengths and weaknesses of each headset. Does one exist?

Not really. Pimax 8K (and 5K) uses 25601440 per eye, so technically 51201440 for both eyes, which compares to Vive Pro’s 2880*1600 (for both eyes).

I’m talking information, not pixels.

Yes, information. 5120*1440 (the 5K resolution) upscaled in the 8K.

No, no, information from the card, itself, not how many pixels are displayed. Four pixels displaying the information of 1 is still the information of 1.

You’re not listening to people. As already stated above it is 2560*1440 per eye!!! So total native resolution 5120x1440 from card to HMD.

Vive Pro: 1440x1600 per eye (2,304,000 pixels per eye)
Pimax 8K: 2560x1440 per eye (3,686,400 pixels per eye)

Then why the stretching?

The upscaling is just for de 8K version that has twice as many pixels.

There is no stretching…
