I need help setting up X-Plane 10. (So far no luck)

I’m a very frustrated noobie, please be patient. It took me nearly 3 weeks in my little spare time just to get an image on the Pimax 4K, I almost returned the unit.

My ultimate goal is to use the Pimax 4K with X-Plane 11 (DVD version) and FlyInside, and to upgrade to nVidia 1080Ti (or higher when available).

I have a couple of questions before I go to farther.

  1. Does the Pimax 4K work with the downloaded or DVD version of X-Plane or does it only work in SteamVR?
  2. Is there an actual manual for the Pimax 4K online? Trying to get information just from the forums is excrutiatingly difficult.

My system:
I-5 3570K
nVidia GTX 770 Driver 381.65
16GB ram
Windows Ultimate SP1, up to date.

Can someone please tell me what the magical formula is of Piplay version, nVidia driver, Occulus driver, modes, etc., etc. that I need to install to be able to use X-Plane 10 throught the Pimax 4K?
Right now all I’m trying to do is have X-Plane 10 display through the Pimax 4K, even if it’s 2D. I just want reassurance for now that I didn’t just buy a $375 doorstop.

Thank you.

just an idea, the experts here may be able to clarify this for you… as your version of X plane 11 is DVD based - and i know that game can be played on steam! have you tried adding it to steam with the non steam game process - i think it added it to the library as a shortcut? I was wondering if steam is clever enough to recognise the game launcher and tag it for steamvr. Just a thought, it might work

Thank you for your quick reply. I heve never used Steam so I don’t even know how to try playing a non Steam game process on Steam. The computer I use for flight simulation doesn’t connect to the internet except for necessary updates that can’t be done any other way, in order to keep it as virus free as possible. I didn’t expect that the Pimax would only work when connected to one specific website.

Hi, is this game a VR version? If not, I suggest that you could play it through “Virtual Desktop” or “BigScreen” from Steam platform.

I enclose a brief user manual for your reference, please take a moment to read it.

alfsin, thank you for posting the link, good information. I downloaded Flyinside but I also updated to Piplay 1.2.63 which completely disabled my headset, I don’t even get LEDs to light up now, even after rolling back to 1.2.57.

To all. My work schedule has suddenly increase a lot, I may not be able to reply to any posts for several weeks.
