Hello :). I’m concerned about the brightness, can you elaborate on what to expect? How does it compare to the vive or rift?
Dude you can’t just post a review this important and not answer people’s questions. Compare the brightness to something. ANYTHING. Was it like trying to look at your phone outdoors on a sunny day? Or was the contrast bold enough and bright enough to be immersive. There’s no point getting this thing if the screens are all washed out. This is really my only concern. Lighthouse tracking is lighthouse tracking. Yes it’s running at 90hz. The resolution can be adjusted so that’s fine. We know there’s no sde. Hearing the res is on par with the 4k is a GOOD thing because the 9k is double the fov.
Just clarify, in great detail, WHAT IS UP WITH THE BRIGHTNESS, and did the pimax 8k have a strong 3d effect?
A concern of mine as well, however is it possible that brightness and color would improve by going to native 4k? I have no idea, just curious if up-scaling causes loss in brightness and color saturation…
On facebook they told me the brightness is not an issue anymore, I’m optimistic.
8K is brighter than 4K.
You may refer to the review by @DaHillersen he used both Oculus and Pimax
He says brightness is on par with the 4k. I have a vive and I have the 4k (Both versions). I find the brightness on the 4k to be perfectly fine except for movies and videos on the LED version. It is a little dim but it can be set in the settings to be brighter so i have no problem with the brightness or the clarity. If The OP says its like the 4k it will be good enough for me. Additionally Xunshu said the CLPL they are using is on par with OLED. the OLED version of the 4k is indeed brighter than the LED version. I have both so I can give a fair comparison. Trouble with the OLED is there is some SDE. It is still far bettter than Rift or Vive though. Just relax guys, this headset will be the best visual experience available to the general public.
Have you never used a viewmaster with the wheel?
Oculus & vive & many others use dual displays. Your eyes are keep seperate 1 image per eye.
yes i know. i don’t understand your point tho
But he was referencing the pimax 5k here, no?
How much darker is your led pimax 4k vs vive?
Can we please get a technical specification for the brightness of the 8k? Lux, nits or lumens. Anything. Please give me some assurance, I’m very enthusiastic about the 8k but I have vision problems such as low light.
wait the test of norman, no need to asking 100 questions
The reason it’s better to know now, is once Norman’s reviews it a million people will flood the Kickstarter and then all of the sudden your order is delayed halfway into next year.
He was referencing the 8k in the discussion. I notice very little difference between the vive and the 4k Pimax Led version. The 4k Pimax AMOLED version is brighter. I attribute that to the fact that the LED version has a blue light filter that the AMOLED version does not have.
Oh, okay. That sounds great! I can’t say that my vive was ever too dark for movies though…
preview out, they say very dim display tho
also the “weak head tracking” keeps being unexplainable if it’s using lighthouses…
What kind of material is used on the face pad? Please tell me it isn’t the same gross sweat absorbing foam that oculus/vive uses…
I question this guy’s credibility because the 8k is not available yet. How is it he got one? Additionally, since the kickstarter has not gone live yet, there will undoubtedly be some improvements in the final unit. I think I’ll wait for Norman’s video before making a decision.
not buying that review
Yeah it doesn’t sound like he’s actually used it personally, probably just going by what people are saying in this forum.
- I believe it was. I think it was the same laptop on the videos too.
- Wide
You could see the whole windshield and more.
- There is no deformation. The lenses are great.
- Same as 4k unit.
- Same as you could with the 4k unit.
