Anyone here watching the Japanese anime series Detective Conan(名探偵コナン ベイカ) or Case Closed? I just realized that one of its anime feature film Detective Conan: The Phantom of Baker Street （名探偵コナン ベイカー街の亡霊）back in 2002 was about Virtual Reality + AI. The story has all the participating characters going back to foggy London in 1888 and involved in the infamous serial murder case of Jack the Ripper…

That might be the very first time I was ever exposed to virtual reality.
Found a clip from the anime in English dub. Honestly , it sounds pretty hilarious compared to the original Japanese dub. And Shinichi’s called JIMMY in this English dub. :smile:

The holodeck sort of qualifies, it’s described as a mixture of projection and materialization.
Would be sweet to have a VR experience without the need for gadgets.
