I just had a firmware update available under Piplay. I installed it and upon completion restarted the Headset and it was no longer recognized under Piplay.
It says Where’s my Pimax? and no serial number or firmware number appears when the headset is turned on. The top light is now only green - not blue as before.
The previous firmware was 1.80 European. Could the firmware be corrupt even though the upgrade completed? What can I do to fix this? Prior to the update the headset was working perfectly.
The Piplay version is 1.1.71 English version and the firmware that it had on it was 1.0.0.180 I think. I’m not sure what the new version was as it was an update firmware button (can’t remember if it had a number - it only appeared today. I’m also running Win 7 64 bit. In the device manager it appears under other devices as Rift DK2 with no drivers. It is not a driver error as it was working previously and recognised under Pimax and by the System.
OK I did a windows search for drivers and it came up with a usb controller driver. It vanished from ‘other devices’ and now works in Piplay and shows serial number and firmware 1.0.0.194 under Pimax mode. What updates were made in the new firmware?
The software can’t find the headset under extend mode though and keeps searching - although it does appear as a second monitor - Oculus VR. This looks like a software or graphic card driver issue. Will there be an update to Piplay soon?
I tested the headset under Steam VR in elite dangerous and it works great again using my tweaked .ini settings. Are there any optimal image quality settings you recommend for the SteamVR .ini settings?
I don’t have that file on the machine I also did a full clean and reinstall of the piplay software in case that was the cause of the extend mode issue - but it hasn’t fixed the problem. No problem though I’ll wait for a fix - just happy to have pimax mode back
Hi. I had the same problem. As i understand it, after updating firmvare necessarily have to completely shut down the computer. So lest USB had loss any power. Rebooting is not enough. Imho good idea add this to FAQ.
Good to know - sorry you had the same problem. I thought the firmware was corrupt so I was happy the device driver search and update fixed it. I’ll do what you suggested next update
My Piplay software came up with an update firmware button - it was in direct mode at the time. I just clicked it and that was it. I only ran into grief afterwards when device manager couldn’t find the headset. As I mentioned in my post, device manager had it listed as a DK2 headset. I did a driver search in windows and it updated a USB driver and all was good again. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

After installing “PiSetup_1.2.33_x64”, pimax is disconnecting ever since.
So I tried down-grading to PiSetup_1.1.92_beta_x64, badluck!, nothing works
ever again. I kept doing back and forth so many time now.
